Photos & Bicycle Builds

Pictures of motorized bike projects and bike builds. Vote for the best build!
Here's a fun little topic, we get to see more pictures. The way it works is, the poster, (me) post a picture of my bike with some item. Then the challenger post a picture of their bike with the same (very similar) item. Then the challenger post a second picture of their bike with a new item for the next challenger to match. My first one I'll make easy my bike and a car. GO!
i finally got all my various parts and put my bike together this past weekend! i haven't really had time to 'finish it up' but i've ridden it a couple of times. i'll put together some pics and stuff when i get more time. peace.
Glad to see a new forum up, I havn't seen any others since the Grubee forum went away last year. I have two motorized bikes. I was riding my stretch cruiser at the Golden Aspen motorcycle rally in Ruidoso, NM two weeks ago and out of 40,000 people and 15,000 bikers I was the only one that got a picture in the newspaper and on the front page at that. A huge picture of me on my bike on the front page. My 80 cc was mounted on a 26"mountain bike frame. It was an older one so it fit well and the engine mounted without any problems. I happened to have a set of heavy duty rims (worksman) from a tandum project that never got together so I sacraficed the gears and installed the single speed coaster brake rear rim . It has double thick spokes and a wide steal rim so it holds up well to the forces of the drive sprocket. When it came time to cut three or so links off the chain I used a hammer and a large screwdriver and smacked the thing against a brick and it broke apart in two wacks. Not a problem.Everything else seemed to go together well and I had it running that afternoon. The brake in period was to run a tank full of gas with extra oil...
As promised-- http://img98.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img98/5966/1161228072ope.smil Positives-- It's a rip roaring 50mph monster, looks great, easily change drive wheels for lower gearing, starts on the fly, surprisingly quiet, still pedals and provides biking experience Negatives--Added 17lbs to my otherwise lite MTB, heavy rear affects handling, twist grip a little cheesy, legality? I love it although it needs a little tweaking-- easy assembly-- thwo thumbs up!! DBR :devilish:
These are a couple of the motorized bikes I put together this summer. I think I'll have to break down pretty soon and put them away for the winter. I'm hoping for a few more days around 30 degrees so I can get a little more riding time in.
I just finished my first ride around the block with the new motor installed on my bike, which I might add, I had to rebuild from a Chopper bike I bought for the motor because it would not fit. (BIG mistake!) Anyway, I hope it gets better because it reminds me of a motorcycle a friend once discribed to me as "like riding an orbital sander"! It really does vibrate and also makes lots of noises. If this works, heres a picture of the bike. The exhaust is weird looking because I modified it with EMT conduit for the chopper, and this is the best I could do re-making it for this bike.
