Join Date: Sep 2008 Posts: 317 Yaller Vista Fueled up the new Vista with 30:1 and it started right up after poping a couple times to tell me it didn't want no damn choke. It ran evenly and idled nicely albeit a bit fast. Went around the block at about 15-20 and parked it. Will check the headbolts in the morning. FWIW, I found the included sheet metal plug wrench turns the drive sprocket to thread the chain. I did discover when I shortened it and inserted a half-iink the pins on the supplied chain are a bit larger than #41. For now I am using the idler roller, but may adjust it to eliminate it later
I posted on riquimbilly and figured I would share with you also > I am building a Lotus 7 type sports-car from scratch and grabbing at anything to keep from addressing the wiring mess Therefor I resurrected my Monarch bike with fresh cables and a change from 5-1/2 to 6-1/2 hp. Harbor Freight Tool Chinese engine. It drives through a bike hub Sturmey-Archer 3-speed tranny as a jackshaft. It has a Lambretta scooter carb and straight pipe formerly part of a trampoline. There is a Hodaka Ace 90 chrome fuel tank on it. The seat is 2" wide from an exercise machine. It is pretty rough riding with a rigid fork and no seat springs. Today I decided to use a spring fork I designed some time ago. It is a Schwinn blade fork backward with...
I have just seen this video on the Xterrain500 and I think immense tire size is meant to give a lot of surface area and therefore a load of float to the bike. I know fatbikes are capable of going in all sorts of terrains like sand and deep snow, but the Xterrain 500 is the first one to offer such a large front wheel. What do you think? <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;">

About a month ago a fella in my town into mopeds and other motorcycles showed me a bicycle he just picked up. It had a 3.5 hp tucumsha power stroke motor on it. The motor on the right side hung way out and the exhaust was shackled together with some copper tubing and chain binders. The bike was a Workman Industrial Cycle with 2.125 wheels and 11ga. spokes I hadnt seen a bike so heavy duty. The thing that really caught my eye was the motor mount all alluminum and heavy gauge at that. The bike was belt driven with a centrifical clutch and the mount allowed at least 3/4 of an inch adjustment sweet. I purchased the bike after I took it for a ride with the intention of using the motor on a go cart for the neighborhood. Which screamed around...
So after mainly failed attempts to buy something and get going before the temps started changing I took that big leap to build my own. Took my inspiraton from the Crouch motorcycle and using it as a guide. Pictured are the Crouch the bike I started with and a rough of where Im at. THe stretch is a little to much but going to wait till I get a little more in to it. The tank is a Dax that Im going to skin over to get the look I want and that big black thing on the bottom is a Dana 3 speed just for sizing. Any suggestions on the build thoughts are always welcomed...later Terry
Right now I am building a chopper with a 5 hp briggs. The left side will be belt drive and then pass through a bench grinder "jackshaft" to the right side where it will be chain drive back to the 6 gears on the bike. A hand clutch will engage/disengage the belt. I am hoping for it to be very fast. I am almost done welding the frame.
