First real road going thing I owned was a 1947 Cushman step thru scooter when I was 11. Rode it til I was 15 and got a 57 Triumph Tiger motorcycle. Always wanted another Cushman so I few years back I looked for one. No way I could afford the prices they were bringing. So decided to build something similar. Its scratch built from scrounged materials. Powered by an ungoverned 212 electric start and a clone Tav30. Has a rear hydraulic disc which really hauls it down. Front end is a NOS 65 Suzuki 100. Even has an analog GPS speedo. Its tops in the low 50s and is fairly quick about it. Body removes quickly for service. Its easy and a pleasure to ride.
I recently demotored a Schwinn trike I built for my wife. Thought she might enjoy it. Should have known better. Was looking on youtube at bike camper vids when I saw this Briggs bike. I got inspired and had a 24” collecting dust. I like 24s. So came up with this. Finished it yesterday, and have been shaking it down since. Its stretched 10” and sized to fit a Briggs at some point. Its now running on a 142F. I have a bike trailer I need to dust off and use, so this is built around trailer pulling. Looks mean nothing on this build, but I kinda like it. So far it works great, shifts well and cruises nicely. Very pleased with the first impressions. The little 142 is well up to the task. Have more to do to it.
I built this with my friend for him. It's all my stuff but I'm letting him use it. I should've used this frame for the minarelli but eh, who's counting. I threw on my phantom 85 and a good ol pz22. The tires on here are insanley fast, I mean huge! I really do wish I used this but yet again, who's counting. As of right now using stock exhaust but I'm gonna give him my mz65 and we are going to weld his flange on, then I'm throwing the jog pipe on minarelli. Ignore the awesome pedal replacement. Putting disc brakes on there rn! The front suspension along with the suspension seatpost feels better than my bike ever will.
Hi guys! Here's my first attempt at building a motorbike. I had got this kit thru bikeberry but found the engine had a good bit of defects. Of course I didn't figure this out till after the engine blew and I dismantled it to discover the flaw. Ended up just buying an Ebay 66/80cc China doll, and before even mounting it I tore it down and replaced everything that looked not so well made. Which was pretty much everything. Its running good but im still breaking it in of course.
I built this bike in 2010 and ride it off and on since then. It operates flawlessly and only issue since 2010 has been new chain. You can ride it with engine running or engine off doesn't make much difference other then weight of motor system. I am getting up in age and don't ride much anymore due to health issues. My question is would anyone have any interest in a turn key moterized shifter bike for about 750. I hate to just hang it from the ceiling and not be used. I am located near Seattle Washington.
Hello all. Just joined today and thought i'd put up a few pics of a couple of my ongoing projects. I will if anyone is interested putting a breakdown from start to finish on a couple of them some time soon. both are unfinished. the smaller one is running off a 250w motor but im putting a 500w in soon. The large one was built in the 1960s originally with a Villiers MK1 Midget engine in it most of the parts are from 1950s,60s motorscooters. I am converting it into a 2000w electric one. the pic of the red one is what the large black one looked like when i got it.
well the little 29cc bike is being retired. it is a sad day. BUT, dont fear, my projects always come back better. in this case, i have an almost brand new 5 hp briggs. it has less than an hour of use, and looks factory, no dents not even any dirt packed in the fins, it just happens, that it will fit in the frame of the old 5 speed bike. now i know what you all want to know, and that is, it it gonna have gears? that is a definate yes. i feel that with this power, the gears are gonna be fairly shallow, but i have an idea to combat that. it is gonna be a street bike, as much as that pains me, but the casette doesnt have a creeper gear. i did the math, and i need a 6 to 1 for dirt use, but that will be very hard to make. i can make an...
Long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks for all the great info here. With y'all's help I've built a couple bikes for my transportation needs. The black one is a KHS Alite 40 with a Honda GX35 Staton friction drive running a 1 inch drive roller. I've swapped out the mtb tires for Fincci street rubber, Kool Stop break pads, Shimano trigger shifters, and a dual brake lever. It's my daily work commuter when it's dry out. It's been perfectly reliable and a comfortable runner over all with the only exception I've had to replace the bearings for the drive roller a couple times now. This last time I replaced the grease that came in the bearings with Lucas Red and Tacky, so far so good. The red one is a Schwinn Sanctuary 7 that's about...
I've been watching my younger brother tool around on his motorized bike for a couple years. My wife and son had visit to grandma's in San Diego coming up so I figured it would be a good time to give it a go. I'm a big guy (6'4", 285lbs) so this isn't the right toy to try to set a speed record on, but I figured I could put together a fun cruiser for pretty cheap. I had an original budget of $300... but after carefully considering the potential safety issues of the bike, I decided on upgrading to a hub-sprocket setup vs the rag joint and I was none-too-thrilled with the stock tensioner (even the 4-bolt version). I had images of the damn thing falling in to my spokes running through my head and decided an arch-type tensioner was in...
Ok, it took longer than I expected, but now it is done and almost through break in. Took the Huffy Causeway (decent older cantilever frame) down to the frame, cheap rattle can paint job, took all the rust off the only components I used; crank, chain ring, seat post and stem. Could not get the chain guard on as the motor is too low. New handle bars, grips, aluminum twist grip, dual break lever with stop light switch (future upgrade to lucky owner), all new cables, upgraded bolt on tank (thanks Karl for that $35 tip) super magneto and CDI, new schwinn comfort seat, nice heavy duty steel mirror, heavy duty Husky steel rims with 12 GA spokes and disc brake hubs (removed from by BS Berry motor ready bike with the bent wheels I could not use)...
