Hi all, I introduced myself over here, thought I'd take a bit of time and introduce you to my more-or-less continuous R&D powered bike project. This nuttiness has been going since about 2002. TourSleazy (TS) is so named because it is inspired by the TourEasy LWB layout but built mainly out of junk. It started life with solid suspension front and rear, but when my knees complained, TS sprouted a Honda G100, 97cc sidevalve engine. Riding the bike in its early human powered configuration dictated that rear suspension was necessary to cope with marginal roads at high speeds (for a bicycle, that is). I cut up a junked MTB with a cantilever rear suspension and grafted that into TS's frame. There's numerous ways to transmit drive to the...
Hey guys! I've been away due to politics. I'm running for President but there's this whole loophole Born in the Philippines thing I'm trying to work out. Anyway, saved up for Duane's new Chrome assembly. Looking good! Some noticeable improvements like extra holes on the carriage plate so moving the engine to fit any application is easily doable. So that's going on Cronus for that's still my main ride but for grocery hauling/doggie carrying and hauling my trike fits the bill. So I put my old carrier on my trike. It ain't done yet. Still little stuff yet to do. Then I gotta get Cronus going as well. Till I can get up some more funds for now my Titan engine will be shared by both bikes. Here's some pics. Notice my torque strap. It...
Today, I returned home and for the first time, mounted my Flying Horse 66cc engine and I am very disappointed with how un-level the carb. is. The rear mount is solidly mounted and the engine is as low in the rear as possible (very near the chain guard) so, I'm not sure how to correct the tilting problem?? Add to that, the carb. is too close, and even under the horizontal tube, a full 1/2".. making the high performance air filter impossible to use. I'm happy with everything else. I'm just not sure how to correct the tilted carb? I wonder if I'm just overlooking something? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated...
G'day, just about completed another BTR build, got a little more to do, but with the interest in BTR's , thought I'd share it with you. Started out with a frame from a disposable MTB, found in the hard garbage collection. Cut an' shut it a little, fillet brazed and hand filed. Forks are cut down 28' blades with a custom made crown and reinforcements. Fitted up a big bore HT China motor that I fettled for a little extra go on custom solid mounts. Made a tank out of some 1mm mild steel, lead soldered, the filler is out of 3/4 brass plumbing fittings, turned and knurled on the lathe+ a vintage brass tap. Still needs some more details finished, exhaust is to be extended out the back with a muffler and fish-tail. Sounds phat with the...
My journey began late last October when I came across an ad for an engine kit for a bicycle. As a kid I had always dreamed of motorizing a bicycle so when I saw the ad from zoom cycles I thought I have an old Raleigh bike I can throw the motor on and I ordered the kit from Zoom cycles and my journey begins. My kit arrives in a few days and I start my build knowing nothing of these engines or motorized bicycles. Thru lots of research thru this forum and other websites and YouTube that there are different engines and more to it that just installing the kit. Quickly I also find that my original plans of using my old Raleigh not very practical without alot of modifying and machine work. Not to mention Raleigh has it's own thread sizes. So I...
Here's my latest incarnation. Swapped the Subaru Robin EH035 engine for the 97cc Lifan 2.5 HP engine on the downhill MTB. It runs out strong & has more power everywhere. Too bad its over the cc & hp limit of State MB laws. As long as I keep it under 30 & pedal along in high gear, I might fly under the radar. Anybody know of a good looking readily available 49cc replacement sticker? -Lowracer-
I got bored so I rebuilt the death trap... here is the new and improved red barron. Most notable improvements include a brand new Grubee 66cc engine, kill switch delete w/new grips, sick bikes front mount, sick bikes expansion chamber, an HD flywheel from sick bikes, an 11 tooth sbk sprocket for the jackshaft, and a better fuel tank mounting arrangement that allows me to lower my seat to a comfortable position. My comments on the new sick bike parts... the expansion chamber is AWESOME!!!! It lets you rev a couple thousand higher in the rpm range giving you access to the additional torque. The only thing I can compare it to is real 3 lobe Honda vtec, ( as in an rsx type s or 99 civic si). If you add the nuvinci hub, 11 tooth sprocket...
Been a while since I've posted. I've been busy building electric bikes for the past few years. This one will have a motor, so I decided to come to the place where bicycle motor heads hang out. I'm researching 4 strokes and I haven't came to a decision yet on the set up. I have plenty of room so it will be easy to adapt. I took it on it's first roll and it is perfectly straight and smooth. I have a single sided rear axle set up to show off the insane rear tire. It's my first try at a single sided axle so I had to figure in a lot of math and calculations to get it perfectly balanced. i had this pocket bike engine laying around.i got the gear box from my buddy.theres a mountian dew bottle for a gas tank.waiting on the rite one.this sob is FAST.i think i can hit 50 mph if i tuck in tight.but not gonna try that yet.dont like the thought of scraping down the road. the pics kinda suck.
learned a lot from the "Red Peril" build .... the "Chrome Stallion" is much improved I think. Pics highlight the bike plus special features like : 1. Black jacketed Harley handlebars 2. custom mounted speedo 3. modified clutch lever hold button that keeps lever fully depressed toward grip 4. chrome bulk up jacket on kickstand 5. chrome jacketed extension on muffler for looks and throaty sound 6. really silent engine chain with no needed idler wheel 7. peddle tension is maintained with the idler wheel from engine chain 8. modified coaster brake arm and counter sunk hex bolts on sprocket to allow an inch of clearance from engine chain and tire whitewalls. (If you use whitewalls, chain clearance to protect against rub PLUS...
When I saw the FedEx truck pull up to my warehouse this morning at 9am I ran out to the parking lot yelling it's here it's here! It was the longest day ever, luckily I had to work my tail off so I didn't have to think about waiting till I got home. The Texas Titan is the fastest, coolest, smoothest ride ever. I hope mine will be too. I would have more installed tonight but I have stuff like feeding, bathing and tucking in the kids. Anyhow, it's going on a bike from walmart with 24 inch wheels and suspension all the way around. Why 24 you ask. I have some friends who just barely can't ride on 26's and the only thing better than riding a motorbike is riding motorbikes with someone else. The kit looks simple enough, not too many...
Still my same bike but my first thread is so old and it's come quite a ways since I first put it together, so I wanted to start over with a clean fresh new thread. Here's my current build, based on a 1997 Gary Fisher Mamba. Here's how she used to look: And here's what started the change: After this happened, one thing led to another, and, well...here she is. PARTS LIST: Engine -66cc China Girl --No-name billet head --No-name MZ65 replica --DIO reed valve --19mm OKO carburetor (GENUINE, not the all-too-common Chinese knockoffs) --Windowed piston --Sick Bike Parts shift kit --Jaguar CDI (on its way) Front end -Monark Type II front fork and headset -Shimano HB-M475 front disc hub (on its way) -TRP HY/RD hydromechanic front disc...
So far I've picked up a BMI peanut tank, Kalloy seat-post and a saddle and added a left-hand freewheel to the rear wheel and made use of the OEM 44t chainring. A full-coverage OEM rear-fender is in the mail as is a Hayes V9 9" brake rotor for the front. The rotor is gonna be a bit tricky since the front fork on these things comes down where the rotor needs to be. I'm not gonna be able to simply build a disc-brake wheel to suit my needs like I did with my cruiser, I'm going to have to modify the OEM hub to accommodate a rotor while maintaining clearance with the fork.
