This is my bike i swore i wouldn't motorize it but after much thought and harassment from friends i caved. But instead of going electric or one of them 2 stroke putt putts i chose a predator 79cc 4 stroke. The motor came with a gokart clutch and jackshaft plate but i wasnt happy with the clutch as it was very sluggish and seemed to need to many rpms to get up to a decent speed with my fat ass on the bike. So i upgraded to a comet 30 ctv torque setup with a chain driving the rear wheel. Turns out that because i have a 5 inch rear rim and comet cvt plate only lets you have a drive sprocket fitted on the outside of the plate behind the cvt driver it wouldnt line the chain up with the sprocket on the rear wheel which was installed with one...
Here's my Cranbrook build. What a freaking learning experience 😆 🙂 Jan 2020 project started 2021: SKIP looks different everyday with new parts from stuff breaking 🤯😆. Ok just one photo Now 2022: Not tampering with it anymore it runs great finally after 2 years 🙂
Hi im from Oz and this is my 2 stroke Schwinn in progress... I've done the usual mods including a severe dose of heavy porting. I got bored so I polished the engine covers to a mirror finish - I reckon this looks much better than the same crappy slotted cnc covers that everybody has.... I also did a little porting and port-matching with the inlet manifold... I've ordered a aftermarket cnc head as well as a 4 litre fuel tank that should arrive very soon... I'm gonna give the head a skim to raise the compression slightly just to give it shooting match a little more oomph... let's see what happens aye... lol Check it out
103 miles on the odometer today, coukdn't be more pleased. For the last 30 miles, last few days, I've been exploring ATV dirt trails and really beating this thing up like a real dirt bike. Getting a little dirty now, I like it. I had to split and join the pipe, engine tilt put it into the frame. The difference is pleasing, it'll growl up mild hills in higher gears, seems to help low end a lot. I plan one more gear change, right now low end is 9-17-9-36-32 from motor to wheel. I have a 18 sprocket coming for jackshaft engine side. If that's not enough I may swap my crank drive from 36 to 30. Honestly almost there now. I locked out 6 and 7 sprocket on rear, only shifting thru first 5. Still, it gets to 30mph. Not more, best I saw was...
Just finished building this bike for my employer. CDH GT2A gasframe Ruff cycles forks, bars, and stem Sturmey Archer xlfd drum brake hubs, 3 speed on rear Husky double wall rims with 12g spokes with Maxxis Hookworms Smolik performance budget minarelli with a mikuni vm20 carburetor and yasuni R1max exhaust. Sickbikeparts.com shift kit. Should be a fun little ripper.
The old reduction friction drive has been removed and tossed on a shelf. It was fun, I learned, but its wore out. Stripped bike to its bearings, cleaned, lubed, new driveline chain and cassette 11-32 / 7 with long cage derailleur, trigger shifter. Dumped front derailleur. Stole hookworms from wife's bike. 🙄 Added BBR 48cc. And that's my stopping point. There's no way in hell a chain will line up w/o power idlers. Kinda knew that anyway.... Course, now I whine, pout, wife says I can get a shift kit for xmas. 🤣😂 Hope I got everything right, I watched a video b4 installing those circlips, one for the clutch too. Was planning to break it in on a trainer stand, but as I can't run chain it has to wait. Do I need a load on the engine...
This is our most recent acquisition, I got it from a local who sold it after barely getting it assembled, because they already had substantially the same bike already. I've finished making it safe to ride, tightened everything that was loose, and did some stuff like swap the seat out and slapped some Avid brakes on along with a dual pull lever. Also went ahead and deleted the big reed adapted snorkel intake because the whole thing made me sick, didn't clear my foot while pedaling, and wasn't idling decently anyway. EDIT: Forgot to mention replaced cylinder bc somehow the original had already thrown the piston dowel retaining clip and gouged the living bejeeberz out of the lining even though the bike had clearly barely even been started...
I built my first motor bike about ten years ago: 1960's Galaxy Flyer. I sold it a few years ago when we moved. I miss riding it so I picked up a dirt cheap rusty Murray Monterey at a flea market. It took a torch and lots of PB Blaster to take it apart. There was so much rust I suspect it was found at the bottom of a lake while magnet fishing. :) Here's the de-rusted Murray put together for the first time and working out the bugs. It ran extremely rich out of the box. This new motor has much less vibration than the Bike Berry motor from ten years ago. This is a before photo all torn down for rust removal. Soaking parts in vinegar is a good cheap rust remover. Torn down again for painting. The front motor clamp-on mount...
well i got a snowmobile engine for christmas. i was gonna put it on this vehicle, but when i ratchet strapped it to the scooter and started it the scooter vibrated across the driveway. i had this lil 2 hp briggs that i did a "restoration" on (added a decal and jb welded the fuel tank). anyway the drive is self explanitory. im machining a pully to fit the rear axle, and then i just build a belt guard, wiring, foot pegs, heat shields and an exhaust system... now i just need a good name for it
When I wasn’t able to find seat post struts I decided to see what I had laying around and came up with this. I found a piece of 3/4” aluminum tubing and was able to bend it with my 1/2” EMT bender then used a -12 AN hose separator to attach it with. I had to grind away some of the inside of the hose clamp in order for it to clamp down tight enough. Also I squeezed the tubing under the seat with my vice and aluminum jaws
The LD100 dual head is too thin and will warp from heat. I replaced mine with a Smolik head. Used PZ20 carb and jog exhaust pipe. 25% of piston blocks intake at bdc but I still get 10,900 rpms and 52mph with 11/36 gearing. Ran 40:1 Lucas semi synthetic from day one. I used a Schwinn Jaguar. Jim Pio
This is my other bike, I just picked up The motor on friday, installed it on my 3g, Wanting to know of any ideas on relocating the component box, and battery; or a smaller battery. Thought about a rear cargo rack or hard shell saddlebags. plan on adding headlights and rear turn signals and brake light anda rear drap stand. Still dialing it in, and breaking in,happy with it so far; Any advice?
Picked up this Schwinn AL Comp 27.5 for $50 USD at the neighborhood pawn shop. I think the seat is worth that much. It looked like it's previous owner had some addiction issues. When I would turn the bike over, I'd hear stuff making weird noises inside the frame. Sure enough, removed seat and there was a buffer spring between the seat post and the bottom bracket, doing absolutely crap but making noise. Anyhow. The engine was a very tight squeeze, a Zeda Firestorm 80. The rear mounting block, I had to cut, leaving only about 3mm between the base and the apex of the seat tube arch. Even then, I had to grind a little off the center fin on the head to make it all fit. I wish I took pictures of the block I cut. Here is a...
