Photos & Bicycle Builds

Pictures of motorized bike projects and bike builds. Vote for the best build!
Hello All… new here. Wanted to post a build thread of my new bike. For now I’m just going to upload a few pictures. I thought I had already posted a few for a build contest but I can’t find them. I guess it was a different forum. I’ll start with the latest then when I have time I’ll post a few pics with an explanation of how I put it all together. Thank you for your time and allowing me to be here. Please forgive the sequencing of these photos. I’m new at this and haven’t figured out quite how to put text next to each photo. So I started out with a Micargi frame and a predator 212 hemi. I was going to install the motor vertically but I wanted the electric start and that somewhat prohibited me from doing so. I installed the wide crank...
This is now my 4th bike build and I wanted to show everyone as I go to get feedback. I was unhappy with my results on my last 3 builds. Also, I've found this forum to be a really helpful, friendly and informative community, anyway here it goes. So in excitement, I impulsively purchased the HD 2 stroke shifter kit at sickbikeparts.com I know now I wasnt fully processing that this kit is not a "jackshaft" which is fine because ultimately I didn't want the "jackshaft kit", i was wanting a "shift kit" that idea is really awesome to me. Luckily, even though i misunderstood I got the right kit,(i think). I got my "shifter kit" in the mail today. This is my 4th bike build I'm starting. I've had a blast with the other 3 builds. Thank you all...
My first build was an unknown brand and size motor on a Walmart Thruster frame basket case. I learned a lot doing a total rebuild on it. While building and running the first bike, I had been eying my Giant Suede forward pedal bike. My wife and I bought a pair several years ago. I ordered a 66/80 Flying Horse kit from BikeBerry. What I got was a BBR 66/80cc ported racing engine. Damn. That's a nice upgrade. Due to the downtube being stretched forward with the crank being forward, I had to use a CNC mount on the back of the motor. Final angle came out good. The shock fork and seat makes this an easy riding bike. A set of Planet Bike fenders gives it a finished look.
Hey guys, after recently introducing myself and my cruiser build, today I want to show you my first motorized bike. It is a Nirve Switchblade Chopper, 53cc - 4G 1B Grubee Engine with a jackshaft setup. This is the bike I learned how to build a motorized bike with, which means a lot if trial and error. I am glad I finally got it dialed in. A milestone in this build was to understand that everything over 6800 RPM is redline and causes drastic vibrations. My bike kept falling apart until I learned this. Then, not being able to full throttle anymore (before I was doing over 9000 RPM to reach 30 MPH) I was looking in to a jackshaft conversion. I needed gears to reach max speed within a normal RPM range. With the frame being a little...
Thought I woul share a couple of pics. Minnarelli cylinder with my exhaust flange I built. Smolik performance spacer, 19mm dellorto clone from treatland, a stainless ball valve that I shortened the lever and faced down for gas tank, a bicycle chain tensioner I want to try, and a lifetime silicone gasket for magneto cover. Also a 12ga spoke. Other photo will be my intake, had to grind aftermarket cylinder for clearance and will post when maching is done. Intake bolts straight on to cylinder no adapter required not going dio route. Comes with stuffer and options for dif carb sizes. Enjoy.
Hi. I'm new here. I've built 2 so far and had a lot of fun doing it. The first one is a new Kent 26" Seachange frame. It has a wheel base of about 42.5 inches. The 2nd build is an old Huffy 26" cruiser that used to belong to United Airlines out of San Fransisco CA airport. They were all disposed of about 20 yrs ago, and a buddy of mine passed it on to me. It has a wheel base of about 45.5". They're both pretty much the stock kit.
I went from a 50cc 40mm cylinder and piston to a 47mm cylinder and piston but now I'm having trouble getting it started. It was pretty simple the only trouble I had was the cylinder bolt pattern was a little different but all I had to do was take a little bit bigger drill bit and drill both sides of the cylinder about a inch down and I also had to make my crank case a little bit wider for the cylinder to go down all the way which adding another gasket took care of that and a couple of brass shims on each side of my crank
Just got the YD100, don't want it to be stuck at a permanent 35, so i'm gonna do 2 break in tanks and not go past 1/2 throttle. The motor just came in today and I got the top end on and torqued down. Cant wait to see how its going to do! Going to put it on a bike today, keep you all updated, the rain stops in 20 so I gotta wait, then my buddy is on his way and were gonna get to work!
Building a motorized bike is pretty simple. Unless, like me, you want a shift kit on a Mongoose Dolomite. I've had to customize the rear motor mount (shift kit housing,) fabricate some spacers and a customized front mount plate. Having solved those problems I ran face to face with the next problem which didn't surprise me. I'll have to take the shift kit housing off the motor and do some more customizing to it. When I solve this problem it won't be long until I'm faced with the next problem. In the end (God only knows how many months away that is) it will be worth it.
