4-stroke bike project

Staton can supply you the multi speed (Nuvinci) GXH50 unit but it's a rack mount. You could frame mount it, with a modified frame but the peddle crank would need to be three feet wide. I think with your list of demands, a Tomos would be a reasonable investment.

I've just recieved 2 Honda GXH50-QXA and 1 Subaru EHO35 from Staton and they arrived in perfect condition....David at Staton put all 3 engines in one box to reduce freight costs and did something else but i can't say for legal reasons. The price was approx half of what u would pay in Oz.If u go the way of the Honda(either QHA-QXA)
you'll need to disconnect the governor........."made in japan"...it's worth it.

Grubee 4-strokes

I'm thinking I'll have to get a Grubee 4-stroke kit that can take the Honda engine but I don't think I can get gears for this sort of rig. Has anyone heard of a v-mounted 4-stroke that has gears? I've only heard of rear rack-mounted 4-strokes with gears. Don't think I can get a Grubee in Australia anyway. I'd have to ship it from the US.

My guess is u probably won't get it in Oz.I might be in the same sitiation as u IF the new Dax 4-stroke rear mounting kit doesn't fulfill my needs.I've received the GXH50 engine from the USA and if things don't work out i'll do a frame mount with the Grubee.I called MBB Imports(32 Paradise Close Plumpton Sydney,Australia ph.# 040 524 5430) about 3 mths ago and they said Grubee kits would be available in 3 mths so now would be the time to try if your interested. You know these Australians though...incredibly slack.

Hi guys

Hi, I've started a new thread for my 4-stroke project and am looking for advice. Think I'll get the Grubee kit and use a Honda 50 motor but I want gears if poss. I've got the bike, a Schwinn Alloy seven cruiser and am putting a 66cc 2-stroke in it as a temporary measure until I work out the 4-stroke rig to use. Also have a Merida Kalahari with a 66cc 2-stroke and am putting an engine in a Giant Cypress which has 700C wheels so that should go faster at lower revs. It's not quite finished so I'll wait and see. The seat post is too wide for the engine mountings so I might have to devise something to overcome that problem. I didn't notice how wide the seatpost was until I got the bike. Anyway here's a current picture of my workshop looking very busy. More about my 4-stroke on my thread.

Called him today and guess what he said "he'll have them in 3 months time." Problem with gear box that needs ironing out he says. I think the problem is the same problem that other Australian who have attempted to import Grubees have encountered and I don't think this site is the place to discuss that problem. Anyway I live in hope. Thanks for the contact number. His website is www.mbbimports.com

Carb problem

Just built a new 70cc 2-stroke and when I open the throttle to full on a hill the power dies off and I have to close it down a bit. How can i get full throttle to stop flooding the carb which is what I think is happening? Any help gratefully received.
Thanks
John

John, Hard to help with this but are you sure it's not just a matter of the revs not being able to get up there because you are going up a hill? In order for the engine to use all the gas provided at full throttle the engine needs to rev higher but because you are going up a hill, it can't.
That's what I notice when riding mine anyways ,kind of like when you get a chainsaw stuck in the tree and you hold the throttle full
