Building a new E-cumbent

I am guessing about 20 mile range at 20 to 25 mph without any pedalling.

I may double my battery capacity to increse the range if I feel the need. But, for now, I will see if this suits my needs.

Wow, that really is an amazing build! that electric motor puts pretty much everybodies 2 stroke engine to shame! You are going to be a huge contribution to the motored bike movement!
great to have you onboard!

Hello,

I was recently introduced to this forum.

I am in the middle of my first E-bike conversion. It is pretty unique.

Here is a link http://www.wisil.recumbents.com/wisil/shumaker/default.htm

Anyway, I have a long background in bicycles and radio control as well as machining. I decided to marry those 3 skills together on my very diffeernt project.

I am glad to be here!

Matt

Pure genius, thanks for the excellent writeup.

yes welcome to MBc! that is one heck of bike you built...good luck on all your endeavors and happy motoring!

I will be back in the shop tomorrow (Wednesday) after work. I plan on making the chain guide/tensioner for the motor chain. The next thing is the pedal side chain management (ot 100% sure how to route it). After that, I am on to the electricals.

I am getting close.

Brilliant! maybe when its all finished you would like to put it all into a thread in the electric bike section, more people need to know about this project! its fantastic, definetely would give the fastest petrol engines a run for there money.

That would be fine with me.

I can boil it down to the essence of the build and start a build thread in the e-bike section.

Is it OK to post a link to the build there, or is that comsindered double posting?

Matt

Personally, I'll read it no matter where you post it. I am curious, you said you have to work on pedal side chain management. From the pictures, I couldn't see what the prob there is.

Yes, thats no problem! I can see you have put a **** of a lot of work into it, it just would be great to copy and paste some of that info you had written into MBc!
