Non Believers

There are members here who have mounted the 4-stroke Grubee kits into the Felt frames. I do believe the fit is tight but can be done. The front triangle of the frame is wider down low and because of that the engine and motor mount can go lower than on your schwinn. Search for a thread called Felt V-10 4 Stroke and you should come up with a members bike with several photos in the picture gallery.

I have searched long and hard for any mention of 'Felt' and all I've seen is HT motors in them. There is talk of 4-strokes in Felt cruisers -like from myself and Sheik - but I can't see it having got any further than just talk.
Your suggestion, Oscully, to drop the mounting tray low brings up the problem of the tray and engine width interfering with the chain ring on the wide cranks. Even on the wide crank the chain and ring needs to be cleared so your back to where I started - not enough room below the top tube. Not to mention a problem with the tray not being long enough to reach from the seat post to the down tube as you are forced to go upwards. None of these problems are insurmountable but I'm yet to see an example of a 4-stroke in a Schwinn cruiser. I have a fair idea who'll be the first to do it and it isn't me.

http://www.motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=6155 here is the link to the thread of the Felt V-10 4-stroke. This bike does not have a chaingard on it in the photos but it appears to me that there is more than enough romm for one if you desired to add one. This bike was built over a year ago, and I believe others have put the 4-stroke honda/clone kit in Felt Crusiers as well. I think the only thing requireing special parts or trouble is clamps to make the kit gas tank fit the oversized top tube.

Thanks Oscully, I see that the tray is nearly at max length and to allow the chain guard I don't think it would stretch to the downtube. It has no mudguards which is a bit like having a car with open doors. I'm sure the mudguards could be installed and the rear one cut away to allow the chain but the engine mounting tray would have to be extended somehow to make it fit. The cruisers all have the same frame except the 'Heritage' model which is like a Schwinn. The one I like best for looks is the 1903 because it has such a lovely paint job. I reckon Felt springer forks are probably made properly and would not break up in the first year like the recent Schwinn springers which I regard as a total waste of money. Those HFS alloy frames are incredibly strong and I trust them as much as any steel frame. I'll have to make a trip to the nearest big city dealer which is a long way away.
