Hello all.
Name's Rob, bike's a 26" Schwinn Frontier mountainbike of a few years' vintage. Found this site through the link on Chris Hill's CH80 engine website....which I found through a Google search on "putting a small motor on a bicycle". I have a buddy who has a small Honda 50 scooter and has recently begun riding it to work. Same old story of getting sick of ridiculous gas prices and so on.....and he got me thinking that I could do at least as good with what I've got in my garage and my shop. (I'm a machinist by trade.) I've built a couple of fun motorized toys over the years, go karts and whatnot, so I figured that someone somewhere would have some info on do-it-yourselfers in the bicycle arena. Found Chris's site and a couple others, and then followed the link here, and the rest is history, albeit a short one.
So anyway, that's me in a nutshell. I have aspirations of motorizing my Schwinn so I can park my car for maybe 7-8 months out of the year and save some beacoup money on gas.....I only live 5 miles from my shop, so I could just pedal the bike there, but I've got a balky knee that's on the verge of needing some tuning-up of it's own. Too much paintball abuse, I guess.
Anyway, I'm here to learn from those who know.....thanks for reading and I hope to see y'all on the boards.
Rob.
