Finally pulled the trigger!

It wouldnt look pretty but a plastic milk crate with the see through holes all over would be a great disguise too. A bit of cutting but it should be about the right size. It would appear to be just a rear basket to most folks.

I've seen that done, too.....I'm hoping for something a LITTLE nicer looking though...we'll see. First I need to get the kit and then install it and THEN start thinking about the rest of the work. I won't know what I have to work with until I get the kit installed, really....

Thanks,

Warner

Thanks for the link to your cammo job. No cooling issues, huh? Did you ever finish by trying to quiet the engine further as you mentioned in your post? I'm thinking about using some stainless steel perforated metal that I have from my work....have to poke around in the garage and see what it looks like again. I think the engine disguise should look like SOMETHING. I saw a guy up in Canada that was using a meshy net over his engine and had saddlebags and other bags all over the bike.....you really couldn't tell at first glance that it even HAD an engine....really good job he did.

No cooling issues so far, and I take quite a few hills. The front of the engine compartment is open so there must be enough air flow going through there. I went through several police road blocks so far of course shut off my engine before I go through and I just keep going through and they don't say anything. If they do figure it out, I don't think they really care anyways. I haven't connected my silicone extension tube to the muffler yet as it was difficult to find the right sized connection to connect it to the muffler and I haven't found it to be a priority at the moment.
good luck with your build, you will love it as I do mine.

Im going to make a big ole chinese take out box out of some material ill find at home depot. it will have the wire handles and some huge hollowed-out chop sticks that will help disperse the heat. it will say mr wongs chinese delivery and cover my entire engine. plus im going to fashion an antenae and instead of a little flag at the top it will have a miniture take-out menu. and no1 will ever know i could do anything and no1 an stop me ill be the best ever.

Well, I just got UPS tracking numbers on the 2 packages from Staton....woo-hoo! I doubt if I'll get the pieces before this weekend, but next week I can start messing with it and try to get it all together. I'm still waiting for parts that I bought from Amazon too.....I'm probably just over a week away from riding the bike....should be an interesting build!

What is the difference????

I've looked at the Staton kits, but can someone please explain the differences between the "inside" and "outside" kits?
Which is easier/straight-forward when installing?
Thank you for any and all help.
Randy

Ok, I've figured out the difference between the inside and outside kits, but why is the inside harder to install? That part I do not understand.
I've been reading for 2 months it seems and am ready to purchase a kit, just not a big headache. :)
Thanks for your help.

Randy, that's the conclusion that I came to as well and just decided to order their "normal" (outside drive) kit, as it comes with all the brackets and such. I figure I'll add a bag of some sort to the other side to balance out the weight and it'll be fine.

Good luck!
