Titan Sold Out Till Sept 08

well.. That is intresting...

That is interesting . and now that you mention it, I have an In frame 4 stroke using the Titan 48cc motor with the best gear box ever !! The only problem is that 3:1 reduction is not cutting it. And the other problem is the Base mounting plate and the Crank replacement setup is not Ideal. The Base mounting plate and Crank setup can be over come. My worry is that the Factory may not be able to provide me with the Ideal 5:1 reduction needed while keeping the gear box slender. That is my concern. I am sending the gear box to my factory to have them try to make it 5:1 and keep it slender. IF they can do that, the industry will have its first true reliable bullet proof quiet and smooth in Frame 4 stroke. By next spring maybe? We will see. As for now, The Titan is a carrier based platform that is top shelf and R3 will be here soon, and will blow everyone away!! I am not kidding. It is awesome !!! The factory has done a stellar job !! The R3 Sample improvement I am testing is just Awesome !!! I love the Chrome I must say.. My hope is that the new Titan XC R3 will be ever more affordable . What good is the best Engine and adapter kit in the world if it is not affordable? Well.. This R3 will be the best on the Planet and will be super Affordable. Just wait and see. At the same time, I will put American know how to work on the in frame version. The goal is Better, Faster, and less expensive. Hang in there. It just gets better and better. Enjoy the ride...

I have to ask - why faster?

One of the most certain attractors of police attention is speed - a bike going 20-25, no biggie. A bike going 35-45 - very much a big deal. Sure, speed has its uses and its places, but as most states laws are now written, much over 20 is breaking the law. Sure, some states it's higher, but the highest I've encountered is 30 mph, max. Twenty will get you there, just the same as 30, or 40, or 50 will - in fact, the odds of ACTUALLY getting there are better at 20.

Bullet-proof quality? Great stuff! Frame mount? Really nice to have for lots of reasons. Economy of operation with a cleaner burning engine? I'm all for it. Thirty, forty, or fifty mph on a bicycle, engineered for human power and human sustainable speeds? Arrest that man, and impound his illegal bike.

Just my opinion.

Simple,
Dax lives in Colorado and a na gas engine loses 3% HP for every 1000 foot gain in altitude. Some engines are an absolute dog on steep Colorado hills due to the effect of density altitude on engine power.

Others just want more speed at an affordable price regardless of what the laws are.

DAX:
If Pablo and his partner market their jackshaft, would you be willing to sell your current 3:1 reduction frame mount? The issue of gearing wouldn't be solved, wouldn't it? I personally would use the jackshaft to drive a Nuvinci hub so I don't have to worry about a derailleur failing.

PS: Forum moderators; a big THANK YOU for the spell check. I wouldn't have been able to spell derailleur without it.

Yep, I know where he lives.

I've known LF for quite a while now, long before either he or I ever made appearance on this board. His CRONUS bike I named for him, and it's running Dax's Titan engine in rack mount. He lives at the same altitude, essentially, as Dax, he rides a LOT of miles on that bike, and freely acknowledges it easily will go 20 mph with his Large self aboard.

So, let's face it, it isn't about power to obtain reasonable legal speeds. Now, I don't knbow what Dax does for pleasure riding - I would be up in the mountains at every opportunity, if I lived there - so more power to deal with slopes and altitude I can easily understand. Over the last three years I've crossed Colorado, southeast to northwest basically (and the reverse), six times. I make a point out of using secondary roads and looking at the countryside, so I do have a pretty fair idea of the terrain issues.

That's not the issue, per Dax. The issue is speed. The problem with that is, the higher the speed, the greater the likelihood of accident or catastrophic mechanical failure of an overstressed bike asked to do things for which it was never intended or engineered. The higher the speed, the greater the likelihood of doing significant harm to yourself (go ahead, that's your hide) and/or others and their property. It's that last bit that is the rub - putative adults can choose risky behaviors for themselves if they wish, and while I might deplore the choice, I support your freedom to make it.

You DO NOT have the right to impose those risks on others. Nor do you have the right to act in such a fashion as to provoke a punitive reaction on the general populace by authority figures, which is what WILL happen if you insist on flaunting the law as regards speed, driving habits, etcetera. If you do so, then I encourage that punitive reaction to focus on you, and leave the responsible, sensible majority to go about their lawful affairs without harrassment.

All that is good SS but it really comes down to the rider.
Anyone can get more speed by adjusting the number of teeth by the rear sprocket.
But it's up to the owner if he/she wants to break the law.
You can have a car with a big block and 500 horses and a six speed gearbox with two overdrive gears capable of taking your car to 150 mph plus but you still need to keep the same speeds as everyone else. And car magazines everywhere posts top speeds of cars all the time.
I think more power is great because at speeds the engine is simply not working as hard, and like you said, more power means a few extra mph going up that hill,a little less pedal assisting.
Some people here simply gauge top speed as what she can do and base all that on the actual quality of the product. But I don't think that's suggesting that we should all speed.
Guys here are even coming out with gears and such that may bring their bikes to moped speeds but it's up to the owners how this is to be used.

Which will eventually be the downfall of the motorized bicycle as states create new laws due to injuries sustained by these types of riders or complaints of reckless motorized bicycle riders. Those that are old enough will remember such laws being created in the 70s for mopeds due to similar careless riders.

This is something the vendors should not contribute to. They would better serve the community and their long term profits by focusing on reliability. Which would increase both the reputation of the bikes as a alternative means of transport as well as the reputation of the vendor.
