I am in the process of purchasing this bike for the purpose of making my first motored bike.
Does anyone see any obvious issues I may have mounting a motor to this frame?
Can you suggest a good option for an engine? The higher the cc's the better.

Also, since this is a vintage bike in never ridden condition, I do not want to scratch the frame or drill holes in it.
Any suggestions as far as that is concerned?

Thanks,

SS

Great looking bike frame. I'd love to have one.
I'd like to see a picture of the rear wheel hub (left side) to see if it will support the sprocket.
I would hate to scratch it too. (Good luck with that). It's probably inevitable.

Here is a link to a build where the person made some custom mount extensions front and rear to make the motor fit the long front triangle. I have a feeling you will probably want to do something similar.http://www.motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=7923

You may also want to consider some type of rack mounted gas tank or behind the seat gas tank rather than mounting an additional tear drop tank above the faux tank of your bike.

All of this assumes you are talking about one of the various Happy Time motors?

Thanks

Those are the best looking mounts I've seen so far. I bet you don't get very much vibration on her do you?
Nice job.
What motor is that your running and where did you get it.
I'm having trouble sorting through all the information on this site to find the most popular, reliable and fastest engine.

The bike and mounts in the photos I provided in the above post belong to forum member Bean Oil. You will need to PM him for the answers to your questions. Or perhaps the answers maybe in the thread linked to above?

I vowed to make my Huffy Cranbrook using all bolt on parts. I fabbed the front mount, couldn't find a chain tensioner I trusted, so I wound up Brazing a tab in place.

My advice, buy a cheapo Cruiser bike, and build that. Your bike is too nice to cut up.
