Is your gearbox noisey? Mine has a rattle that I do not hear untill i get up to10 or 15mph then it subsides as I approach 20mph and up. Chain has settled in and does not need to be adjusted as much as before. The chain is pretty quite. Also whats the four silver allen hex plugs that are on the side of the gearbox purpose. three of them are inline with the engine bolts but one is not so that IMHO eliminates engine removal [i think] with out splitting the gearbox. I did add the gearbox grease through these plugs:???:

come on gimme some feedback Puleeezzee:LOL:

My gearbox makes normal gear noises, but I wouldn't say it's "noisy". You added lube to the gearbox? I don't remember seeing any instructions from Staton to do that...and I didn't do that. Was I supposed to???

I bought the Staton Kit minus the engine. A tube of grease was included. I talked to David about the grease and was told the whole tube was for the gear box. When buying a complete kit ,if the engine is already attached to the gear box then maybe the grease is already inside the gear box--dunno.
Aside from some gear noise the staton kit is getting better and better. I did a 100 miler a few days ago with Zero problems. My confidence level is now in the comfort zone

According to the on line instructions I did not see anything about the gearbox lube. I think it would be more helpful if David Staton were to re write the instructions and include clear close up pictures of the process. They are vague as is. I'm a ex small engine and auto dealer mechanic and I had to read the instructions several times and try to zoom in on others bikes that are in the Staton picture gallery.

Ah...okay...makes sense. There was no tube of grease with mine so I'm sure it was in there as I bought the kit with the engine. I have been REAL impressed with the Staton kit. I would be comfortable taking a long trip on the bike for sure. I agree about the vague instructions! Were it not for the photos of other bikes on line I would have had a much harder time installing the kit. Which engine do you have?

I justgot the mitsubishi tle43inside chain drive kit, I took the four silv er plugs out to dissassemble the motor, 2 engine bolts came right out, 2 wer hidden by the gear. I had to rotate the gear to get to them and they came right out. But I dropped 1 bolt, so I had to split the gearbox anyway lol. The gearbox was already lubed. Use the 2 inner plugs to lube as they are directly over a large gear.BTW I just spraypainted the gearbox and hardware satin black. Came out nice ,much better looking than mill finish. Already broke in the mitsu on my gebe settup, real quiet motor, I can hear the wind more than the motor. Power seems similar to my tanaka40cc. Looking to install kit tommorrow on my montague mx. I'm psyched!

Yeah I pulled some of the allen bolts out when I got my staton nv kit and it was totally packed with grease. I agree about the TLE43. It's whisper quiet when you have the wind in your ears. It's an amazing 2-stroke.

The longer I ride mine the quieter the gearbox gets (or maybe my hearing is failing).

I justgot the mitsubi****le43inside chain drive kit,
 gotta love that "naughty filter", if you had typed "mitsubishi tle........" it wouldn't have put in the *s.

I just got my inside drive kit/TLE43, not installed yet, gotta get the new hub on first... But from you who know, if the gear box is already packed with lube, should you add more lube later? How often should you take apart the gear box and clean and re-lube, maybe is what I'm asking.. TIA
