Grubee Special Cruiser Frames & Prototype Belt Drive

Here are some pictures of the new Grubee cruiser bikes with frame geometry etc plus a new prototype belt drive that looks interesting. The bikes are available but I don't know of anyone importing them. I gather the belt driven prototype has proven to be fast & good. I reckon the special cruiser bikes are a great idea cos I'm over adapting cruisers to fit the 4-strokes plus it makes them inordinately expensive to buy.

yeah irish.....expensive.....im finding that one out as we speak.....hate to say it but, already thinking about a second bike......and what i want on it....i should just hang dollar signs on it and do away with the motor.....if it wasnt for the fact that i like to tinker.

are u thinking of finding one for ur own irish? i like that tank frame.

grez

Yes Grez, I'm paying Aus$820 for the Schwinn plus spening a lot of time making the special Nexus 7spd hub mounting for the sprocket and a whole lot else. There is too much precision faffing about and the Grubee frame would reduce my final cost considerably plus it has good brakes which most cruisers don't have. The Schwinn D7 is a beautiful bike though and the best I've ridden.
I'm interested in getting a small trial batch imported and I'd be looking to the Adelaide boys to see if they'd like to share the cost or any other Aussie members but Adelaide seems to be the big hub (pardon the pun).
The steel frame is good but I'm not that keen on the aluminium with tank included cos it doesn't hold enough fuel and I don't trust it for leaks.
Time will tell. Pity I lost all my savings on the Indonesian Schwinn import scam cos I could do things with the spare cash.

awww man, i feel u irish......we're all in need of some spare cash. would be interesting to see what u come out with. i am in the search for a mono suspension frame. they dont seem to make the ones Im interested in anymore. newer ones have hardly any frame space to mount. ones i seen are late 90s frame i guess. u would think its fairly easy to find. found one but got beat to the purchase.

I'll wait till i get a price from MBB Imports & see if their worth it.....now is about the time George should be expecting them.

Sadly George has had to put the bikes on the back burner because of the disasterous exchange rate on the Aussie dollar. Anyone in Australia who's interested PM me cos there may be a way I could aquire a sample batch.
I'd use sea freight naturally.

I haven't heard of a Giant cruiser bike. Are you talking 2 stroke bike mounting or 4-stroke? I think the quality would be better than a mid range Giant because the frame is steel and the wheels are 12 guage spokes and axles etc built for motors. The front suspension would be similar quality I reckon.
There was a Giant cruiser a few years back that had front V-brake, rear coaster, rigid forks, 3 piece crank and a top tube like a Felt cruiser which makes mounting a tank difficult. It had nice mudguards, a suspended saddle post and nice stem. They discontinued it. There's always heaps of drawbacks to brand name cruisers and these create added expense to overcome. I reckon the Felt Heritage is about the most easily adapted cruiser for a 4-stroke frame mount but I'm not totally sure there is space enough for the engine & tray and I can't get to see one in the flesh. It has practically everything a good 4-stroke needs except for a good rear rack and a suspended saddle post so that's another Aus$100 to add on.
