My NEW 2006 Whizzer NE5 "OSCAR" is now home!

The bike fit with a little room to spare in my 2008 Toyota Matrix hatchback, with the rear seats folded flat.

I did have to remove the mirror and cock the handlebars to the left to provide door-closing clearance on the car's right side.

HEY!

Upon reading the "Certificate Of Origin For A Vehicle" document from Whizzer U.S.A., Inc., I find that the date sold to the dealer (whom I purchased it from today) was 04-20-06, but the year model of the vehicle is a 2005 NE5, not a 2006 as I had expected!

The owner's manual is dated 1998, but has a revision sheet in front explaining the NE5 features, which makes the manual up to date, except for explaining how to use the Automatic Clutch!

(Oh dear, I'm so worried that I won't know how to use it!)

Congrats. You may even have the early NE cylinder which is a good thing. My brothers is a 2005 and it runs great. Is yours a 24 or 26 inch?

Congratulations on bringing "Oscar" home! I have a bird (a Hahn's Macaw) named Oscar. Let's hope your bike isn't as cantankerous as the bird!

Hey RdKryton:

I've got the 26", as indicated by the tire size and the 73" length.

The bike looks so SMALL compared to my previous 7 motorcycles! I can imagine what a 24-incher would have looked like!

Everything looks so "toylike" in length and width, although the height is greater than all my past sickles.

The engine looks so small that I feel I could pick it up and throw it like a football!

I can see that riding and tinkering with this little fella is gonna be a nice experience!

I've always wanted a pet bird of my own, but I could never make up my mind between a Finch and a Hyacinth Macaw.

My wife has a Cockatiel, but she used to have an African Gray and a Conure.

The tinkering gets old if your true goal in riding. I am trying to do everything all at once so I can ride and enjoy the benefits of riding a finely tuned machine willing to go the distance without any cantankerous tendencies. You see I'm still working and am wanting a trouble free ride. So with that goal in mind I'm doing the entire 9 yards immediately on mine.

To me, tinkering is the main goal! Riding is secondary.

Ever since I retired 10 years ago and moved up to the High Desert, my cycling has always been pure joyriding, and only for short trips...never more than 20 minutes away from home, and never more than 30 MPH!

In fact, most of the time my "short trips" are just circulating in the immediate neighborhood for a few minutes!

There have never been any "real" trips I've ever planned on the past four sickles I've owned since moving up here, and I never ride with other cyclists, because they want to go too fast and too far! NOT ME!

I remember once when I got the nerve to get up to 50 MPH for a few seconds going up Sitting Bull Hill, and that got me so nervous that I never rode any of my sickles over 30 since then!

Yes, most of my fun comes from tinkering with my bikes: changing things like Carb Jets, Mufflers, Handlebars, Horns, Lowering the Suspension, etc.

THAT'S the fun part for me...with short rides coming in second, and NEVER any long rides!
