Doctor Says No More Riding Bikes

Not a DOctor

I have no advise, but on the other end of having knee trouble most of my 70 years (starting at around your age.) I believe in good knee health. The knee is one of the most replaced joints (as many of my friends can tell you.) I had arthroscopic surgery on one of mine a few years ago and it hasn't given me any trouble since. For myself I would get an other opinion as even if you hear the same thing you will learn more about the condition from the 2nd doc. You are your own best doctor as you can feel and tell if things are changing and thus back off an help your body. You only get one chance to grow up so I would make the best of it.

It would be nice if someone could bring your dinner downstairs for you. If not, how about rope, pulley and a basket outside the kitchen window, like an outside dumbwaiter?

Not trying to disrespect you in any way, mechanicojoe.

My son had a similar assessment when he was about your age. We had to monitor his situation and he had to take it easy in some sports. His condition improved quite quickly and he turned out fine.
At your age, take care of yourself, you have your whole life ahead of you to enjoy MBs or whatever you choose, listen to your doctors.

It's good advice to get a second opinion. When you get that advice, be sure to explain exactly the type of riding you have in mind. As someone else pointed out, there is very little pedalling involved in MB riding.

MBc's are so out of the main stream, surely your doctor had no idea of it when he/she said "no riding". Better clarify.

Be sure to let us all know.

knee problems ...

...and other joint related issues can sometime be solved, or greatly helped with organic raw milk....If you can get it. My experience and understanding is that pasturization kills the enzymes needed to properly digest the calcium in milk which greatly helps your joints/etc. Incidently, people suffering from lactose intolerance (the inability to digest lactose results from a shortage of the enzyme lactase) can drink raw milk. Anyhow, unexpectedly, my knee felt great 2-3 days after drinking it this last spring. Unfortunately, the price of gas caused my supplier to throw in the towel ... made my teeth whiter too... slept better...its really miraculous ... he's planning to restart in the spring with more cows... my $0.02

If you are not allowed to ride a bike, are you also limited in walking&running?.Is it a matter of overall wear&tear? You flex your knees more riding than walking, smaller cranks (do they exist?) & a higher seat would reduce the flex angle, if that is related to the problem.Try to get more info on your condition,to get a better idea about what would exacerbate your condition.
