I figured I'd start a thread detailing my first build, who I got the motor from, the donor bike etc. This first post doesn't have much, but as I make progress I'll add more details and photos as things come along. I'm pretty good with bikes, but I've never put a motor on one so I'm quite green to the whole idea but I don't think it will be too bad. I'm fairly handy mechanically and I try to do most of my own work on my cars/trucks, so I guess we'll see how things go.
Initially I'm going to install the motor on a "test" bike if you will, a bike I had put together with spare parts and a Nasbar $29 frame a few years back when I was commuting to school. I was logging a good 18mi a day, 5x a week on that thing, or a good 350+ miles a month. I sure would have liked having a motor back then!
Anyway, the eventual goal is to move the motor onto a Nirve Kilroy, but I figured I'd work out the kinks of the motor and installation on the test bike first.
So far things are looking good, I've found a great forum here that seems to be overflowing with good information and my motor purchase from Powerkingshop has gone smoothly. Though I haven't gotten it yet, I have to say I'm pretty happy so far. I placed my eBay order and in less than 3hrs I got the UPS shipping notification, impressive! Anyway, I'll definitely be reporting back with pictures of the motor, unboxing, the donor bike, etc as I go through the process. (and a fair share of questions as well I'm sure)
That's all for now I guess
