I figured I'd start a thread detailing my first build, who I got the motor from, the donor bike etc. This first post doesn't have much, but as I make progress I'll add more details and photos as things come along. I'm pretty good with bikes, but I've never put a motor on one so I'm quite green to the whole idea but I don't think it will be too bad. I'm fairly handy mechanically and I try to do most of my own work on my cars/trucks, so I guess we'll see how things go.

Initially I'm going to install the motor on a "test" bike if you will, a bike I had put together with spare parts and a Nasbar $29 frame a few years back when I was commuting to school. I was logging a good 18mi a day, 5x a week on that thing, or a good 350+ miles a month. I sure would have liked having a motor back then! :)

Anyway, the eventual goal is to move the motor onto a Nirve Kilroy, but I figured I'd work out the kinks of the motor and installation on the test bike first.

So far things are looking good, I've found a great forum here that seems to be overflowing with good information and my motor purchase from Powerkingshop has gone smoothly. Though I haven't gotten it yet, I have to say I'm pretty happy so far. I placed my eBay order and in less than 3hrs I got the UPS shipping notification, impressive! Anyway, I'll definitely be reporting back with pictures of the motor, unboxing, the donor bike, etc as I go through the process. (and a fair share of questions as well I'm sure)

That's all for now I guess :)

that sounds real cool
welcome aboard
I like the name and when you ride that motorbike thing the first time, you'll think 'unrealtrip' then lol

As we sometimes say in California, "for sure man" :)

I can't wait to move past the test phase and into that Kilroy, will look great with whitewall tires and an old school bullet headlamp. I'll just have to bust out a leather jacket, white scarf, leather helmet and goggles for the morning commute lol.

Welcome aboard. You'll find good info and enthusiasm here. But it looks like you already know that.

That Kilroy looks like a great bike to motorize.

Hey Unreal,

That Nirve Kilroy bike kind of looks like the felt bike I did, take a look. Should be a fun build when you get to it. Have fun,

Keith

Wow that bike is awesome, totally the same theme I'm going for :)

Dug out the donor bike today and gave it a quick once over, looks like the chain is pretty bad, but otherwise mostly in decent shape. Will need a new rear canti-brake and the rack seems to be missing, picked up a couple inner tubes but the tires seem fine. Still waiting on the motor, the last UPS update was it clearing customs so I think I'm looking good to get started sometime this week.

Sweet, I just called my wife and confirmed my Powerkingshop motor has arrived, very impressive. I won it on eBay on Nov 7th, he shipped the day I ordered it just hours after I paid for it and today only 5 days later the package arrived at my house. So far so good, I can't wait to get home from work to open it up and get some pictures. Then I get to start assembly on the bike. :D :D
