Many of our customers have started out by building a motorized bicycle for their own personal use, but have been stopped so many times by bystanders that they have started their own business of building and reselling bicycles with our kits on them. We see it as such a great way to promote the hobby that we began to wonder how often the members of this forum get stopped and asked where they can get motorize bicycles of their own. For the purposes of this poll, lets say the average amount of times your asked per ride.

Also, we'd be very interested to see how many of you have built these bikes for profit, whether it be on a small scale, large scale, at your local swap meet, garage sale or even to you friends and family.

Heh, I'll give you this, your "poll" is a very creative way of advertising your product! :devilish:

I got a little tired with saying the same things to everyone so I wrote out the info as to the orgin of my paradise and hand them out to all that want to know. Then with that out of the way like a song it goes something like this:
"Top speed because of my hill climbing is 20 but with gearing you can go faster but why would you? It's a bicycle and when you don't have to pedal the whole world opens up and you are suddenly young again. I used to take blood pressure medicine. No more. So I save on meds and it costed me 40 cents in gas to get from here to Cherry creek 26 miles away and halfway back. This little canister here is my reserve tank. The farthest I've gone is Chatfield Reservoir from where I live in Northglenn and it's all bike trails. And the cops? They just wave at me."
"OH NO. Are you kidding? This ride will NEVER EVER be for sale. But call that number and he'll hook you up."

NEVER a day goes by where I get asked questions. But it's also me for I say Hi to everyone that gives me a look.

My average is less than once per ride. But I must have been asked 15 or 20 times over the summer.

One guy came up behind me while I was locking the bike and said, "could you build one of those for me?" I ignored the literal meaning of his question and said, "What you wanna do is look up www.motoredbikes.com and you'll find what you need there."

"I'm totally illiterate". (though he at least pronounced it correctly)
"What would it cost to have you do it?"

I said, "Well, I suppose I'd need a couple hundred bucks for the job. Engine, bicycle, miscellaneous..it might be done for $600.00."

"Can you order the engine and bike for me?"

"Well, maybe. But right now I gotta get going." (And I was beginning to wonder if the money would be there when the time came. Maybe, but I'm thinking probably not.)

He said, "Here's my phone number. Give me a call when you've got some time."

"Uhhh, yeah. OK."

I never did call him. I really do want to be helpful to people. And I often succeed.
But if you say "Go to this website. You'll find what you need there." and they just give excuses, then screw 'em.

I don't have time to waste on people who won't try even a little bit.

I get asked only a couple of times per month, but I have been riding mostly at night.

He probably didn't have a computer. I usually say "Go to the Library and check this out." Then the card I give them has both sites and the DAX number.

I usually get stopped 1-2 times each time that I go out for a ride. Most people around here are 55+ and the two most common questions that I get are
"Is that a whizzer?"
"They aren't still making those, are they?"
Now all I need is a real whizzer so that I can say "As a matter of fact it is a real whizzer."

Never Been Stopped

But I have seen A lot of double takes ....
Like what the **** was that !!!!!
