And it was soooo refreshing. I hadn't ridden it since a bit before Thanksgiving. But I just couldn't stand it anymore.

Now I'm torn between getting it back on the road and riding daily or tearing it down and improving it over the next two, deep winter months.

And I really am having a hard time deciding. I have some improvements in mind, but the bike'll be down during that time and I really want to ride.

Not really a lot of point to this thread.

Except that it feels good to just say it. And I know that you folks will understand.

See you around.

yes we understand blue g w

it must be hard on one motor bike rider
thinking about a couple of months with no riding THING at all

don't know a whole lot about you but
that would be hard to do wouldn't it ?

kind of like telling a cowboy -- two months with no horse !!!

this would be where a back up pony would come in handy !!!

ride that hairy THING

Actually I do have a backup, MountainMan. My wife's MB. I've been using it as a source for spare parts. But to get it up to snuff would be a fairly big job in itself.

So, really, I've got two MB projects that want, and nearly need, doing.

Which might help me decide whether to ride or to get to work.

hey bluegoatwoods

I see -- you all have two MB's
guess with the weather back there
this would be a good time to fix them MB's up right
I am thinking that you may be having some ice to be riding on anyway
I don't seem to be able to walk on ice that well
on my motor bike -- could be a Mountainman falling onto rock hard head

one THING good
even though it may not seem like it at the time
a couple of months passes by -- too darn fast

MM

That's true, the calendar seems to be on fast forward the last few decades.

There's no ice right now. One of my planned improvements is studded tires for when it comes back. Bought the screws for that job yesterday.

I went with pan heads, by the way. My thinking is that the flat shoulder might hold onto the inside of the tire better than those angled shoulders you find on flat heads.
The downside, of course, is that those panheads might be more likely to puncture my tube. I'm willing to take the risk, though. I just gotta know and I really don't mind changing a tube when necessary.

I need to pay a visit to the Beast of Bentonville. I think I'll take the bike. I'll leave shortly. About ten mile, round trip.

So that means that I'll put off my ride-or-mod decision until this afternoon at the earliest.

To Ride or not To Ride?

Hey bluegoatwoods,
Just wondering what you decided to do ... ride or mod? I'm hoping for lotsa pictures either way to help relieve the Michigan cabin fever!
:geek:

My driveway last week ... still much the same ...

Yep, that is one heck of a lot of snow. guess I'd better quit feeling sorry for myself.

I pullled her down into the basement for the mods. I haven't started yet, but I'll be sure to post something to relieve the cabin fever, Mike.

Michigan's my home state, by the way. A bit south of Jackson. What part are you in?

I'm up here near Cadillac. Right on the edge of the snow belt. A few miles east and the lake effect snow off Lake Michigan dwindles right down. We can get dumped on and our neighbors 20 miles east might only get flurries.

Tonight we're supposed to get a mix of rain, sleet and snow ... it just keeps getting better! :bigcry:

Have fun in the basement ... watch yr thumbs ... looking forward to the pic's!
