Hopefully a REALLY ROUGH RIDE...POPS

It looks to me like the real trouble began when the woman tried to elbow the cop as he was patting her down. And he felt that that gave him the right to go medieval on her.

Yes, she was riding on the sidewalk. And I imagine that that's illegal. But this is not the sort of "crime" that requires a body search.

And unless there were children or little old ladies directly in her path, then it wasn't the sort of "crime" that merited his attention at all.

It wasn't all that long ago that I thought of a police officer as being my friend, automatically. Now I'm beginning to wonder if they might crack my skull one day for giving them a dirty look.

It would be an exagerration to say that they're becoming like the SS. But they have taken the first steps in that direction in the last decade or two.

That really was disgusting.

But I'm glad that jerk sprayed himself. On camera, to boot. Oh, and he lost his job. Good.

I got arrested for no reason as well, and charged with resisting when I didn't resist. WTF is with crooked cops.

This is looking more and more like New World Order.

DOWN WITH THE NEW WORLD ORDER! Stand up for your freedom and do not comply with these CRIMINALS!

They are not your friends. They are simply criminals that got employed as cops to abuse the system at your expense. Stay headstrong and avoid them whenever possible.

I have news for you, this event did not happen in Philadelphia or even in Pennsylvania. Millville is in southern New Jersey, about halfway between Philadelphia and Cape May.
Also, please refrain from calling law enforcement personnel derogatory names. There are some who are members of this forum, plus we do not want to portray us as a group in such a negative way.

I agree with you KilroyCD on that. There are very good, genuine Police out there.

But what about when a criminal gets a job as a police officer, just to abuse the system and get a position of power?

It doesn't help the image of the "good" cops, when you have bad folks like that becoming cops, and making them get a bad rep, by stuff like this. I mean, punching the lady in the face while she's handcuffed because he was mad he pepper sprayed himself. ROFL.

Maybe I should become a cop, and expose the dirty ones that are abusing the system!

*** I believe the proper place for this thread is in the White Zone, and NOT in General Discussion***

Your point is valid, Kilroy.

I'm still perfectly willing to believe that the vast majority of cops are decent, well-meaning folks. More than that; they are actively interested in protecting, say, my children from those who would harm them. That's what I meant when I said that I viewed them as friends.

But cases like this make my wonder if their esteem for the public is waning. I don't have a definitive answer. But the police who mean well would be well advised to know of suspicions like this growing in the public's mind.

And we don't know everything about that particular traffic stop. Maybe the woman tried to, say, pull a gun on him. IF that's the case, then he was doing no wrong. but I kinda doubt it. He shouldn't have tried to pat her down over riding her bike on the sidewalk.

Dad was a motorcycle cop

excellent point made

and I was only referring to that one pooolice person

just in case some have not read my post way back some where
my Father was the Asst Police Chief in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
he was a good cop
and shared with me -- sure there are bad ones -- just like in anyTHING
but once he found out about them (bad cop ones)
they were gone from the force fast !!!

Dad also loved to ride two wheel THINGS
working his way up through the ranks
many years spent as a motorcycle cop

ride that THING

Years ago now I spent a few years as the night auditor (and desk clerk) at a cheap motel in a city of about 40,000 people. I got to know, fairly well, every police officer on their third shift.

It seemed to me as though these guys were very genuinely interested in the safety and well-being of, for instance, little old ladies, families with young children, salesmen, etc.
They could be counted on absolutely and I still feel, to this day, what might be called affection for them because of it.

I also noticed that if a person showed up who might be viewed as "the enemy" (ie; gang types, hookers, junkies, etc) they could expect absolutely no mercy whatsoever from the police. And I remember a couple of incidents that I find sort of chilling. (Though these folks often did spend the night safely by keeping a pretty low profile.)

I suppose one difficulty for the cops involved was "separating the sheep from the goats" on a moment's notice. Not easy to do. Though there are some visual and "body language" clues one can use with some confidence.

I suppose they, and the rest of us, can only judge strangers by these clues they give out.

That woman on the video didn't seem to give out the normal "red flags". but our view was sort of distant. Maybe that cop saw something that we didn't.

But that video still looked bad, from this distance.
