Lawn mower, Lawn boy with techamseh engine
wont start unless you push the primer bulb 20 times
and wont run unless you keep pushing the primer bulb.
when you stop priming it dies.
I took carb off and cleaned it with stp spray carb cleaner.
This carb is the type that has no adjustments at all.
any ideas ????
Thanks for any info........

My 83 year old father that we look after is Mr Lawn Boy. Small eng. course on LB etc. When he gets up tommorow I will quize him and post...POPS

Dirty carb,, bad fuel, bad primer bulb , clogged or cracked fuel lines. Make sure tank is good & clean,, add a small amount of " Seafoam " carb cleaner in with full tank of fresh gas, & a new plug . Let it run, & any time it tries to stall, pump the bulb a time or two. KEEP it running ! I have done this many times & usually the motor will clear up & run OK after a few minutes.

What I tried so far

Flushed fuel tank
replaced spark plug
replaced fuel line
good new gas
clean air filter
where do you buy sea foam ??? Iam about 300 miles from the coast ...
I guess i need to replace the primer bulb ...
Thanks for the info....

" Seafoam " is available at any auto parts store. It doesn't take much trash in the carb to make it do what you are describing. If you are not pretty good with rebuilding a carb, don't try to take it apart any more than just removing the bottom bowl. You can usually see a bad place in the primer bulb. It usually is from dry rot around the edges, where they will tear. Bulb will feel a little hard rather than soft rubbery.
Do like I described above. I have sat with my old lawnmower, doing the same thing, for 10-15 minutes, pumping the bulb once ot twice to keep it running. It ALWAYS has finally started running fine & lasted maybe a year or two before the same problem started back.

Thanks

It looks like that primer bulb is bad, it's hard and is prob. pulling in air .
I will got the the Lawnmower shop and get a new one.
They also have a brand new carb for $ 40.00 and on this carb there are no adjustments. So it's just bolt on. I did take the bowl off and blow some carb cleaner in it but no luck.

Spray carb cleaned, using the little nozzle that came with the can, while at it. $40 for a new carb is not bad, but if all you need is a bulb, it is wasted $$.
