Automatic Start??

G'day, i've had a crazy idea ( thanks to my brother being a whiz in the electric side, and that rubbing off on me ) would their be a way to wire up something like a 9V battery to the spark plug instead of using a dynamo from pedalling?

I have also got a Sound system mounted on my to be bike, which connects to an mp3 player, this is basically ran of a 9v battery, a mini amp wired to a 2 speaker setup, which connects to an ipod,mp3 player or anything with a line in imput.

Anyways, would running the spark plug with a simple circuit of a 9v work? or should i look further into this with a mate whos a real sparky?

the main reason i wanna do this is because imagine this, you hold in the clutch, flick a switch, drop the clutch and start riding, without pedal assistance. that'd be beaut.

Meh, just an idea, maybe someone would tinker around with it

Also, fuel injection, now i know this is crazy, but setting a mini pump and injector with a small micro PIC chip ( to match revs, control injection etc) would take alot of screwing around and time i don't have, just some ideas i might consider working on when i get time, but the injector dream is just that, a dream.

Old model A fords will often start without the starter just by tuning on the ignition. If enough gas is left in the cyl. and the piston is in the right place, the ignition coil will spark-explode that mix- and then provide enough inertia for the next and on and on. Me thinks this might be difficult with a single cyl engine.

yeah, thats a good prospect, but for a single cylinder your best go is to try wiring up a simple circuit 9V to the lead, basically flicking a switch, dropping the clutch and accelerating, now the problem is that you would have to be quick with the acceleration ( and if anyones had to do a hillstart in a manual unlicensed and inexperienced on 'private property') then you'll kinda get the idea, but still that was just a crazy idea.

you could go one better, start pedelling slowly at 3-5 kmh, easy as ****, and then flick the switch drop the clutch and take off (you really put the effort in to start especially when cold).

but thanks for you input mate, knowledge is the strongest weapon of all, granted i haven't dealt with automatic weapons

if your bike is that difficult to start, theres something wrong. Your engine still needs to turn over to start, dropping the clutch aint gonna do it without moving.... my bike starts with very little pedaling.

yeah, Got the carby cleaned out, proper settings and in my mind best ratio of everything (thanks to a broken throttle cable) as well as a proper spark lead, and it starts no problems

at first i was like THERES SOMETHING WRONG!!! it starts so easily, TO easily!
