Doing speeds like that downhill on an ordinary bicycle might be OK cos an ordinary bike can hit 50 mph on a steep hill but on a motored bike it's bad for the rest of us. I was pulled over on Thursday night by the police who wanted me to prove my bike was under 200Watt power. They had no reason for stopping me except that they are being asked to focus on motored bikes because of some very widely reported incidents in Australia:

It was bad enough until in January another moron on a 2-stroke fell asleep on top of his bike in the middle of a big freeway near Woollongong NSW.
You stated that you overtook lots of cars on the side of the road - that suggests you overtook on the inside which attracts even more attention.
The police took the details of my Honda 50 which, as we all know, is certainly not 200W power output. They could have impounded my bike there and then except some cars stopped to ask if I was OK and the poilice must have been impressed with respectable people who knew me stopping to ask about me.
They were also impressed that I knew all the serious incidents over the last few years in NSW that involved idiots on 2-strokes.
I think I will probably get to ride another day but the police reckoned my bike isn't legal and would have to be registered but all this police attention is because of the wrong sort of people who ride irresponsibly on open roads.
The days of motored bikes are nearing the end in Australia because as anyone knows it would be impossible to register a motored bicycle under the very stringent regulations applying to motor vehicles. They wouldn't pass muster on so many fronts that it's not even worth trying.
I sell built bikes to people but not everyone who wants one gets one. If I suspect I'm talking to a petrol-head or a hoon or a ****-pot they don't get past interview stage and I tell them why. Selling kits is more difficult because they sell to any idiot and they aren't responsible for accidents caused by mechanical failure. I think they would be responsible if a life was lost and the engine was shown to be over 200Watts (which they all are!). It's just a matter of time until a victim sues the supplier.
Hearing about this 45mph on a HT with SBP shifter kit in a trafficked area I can see that's we are now at the endgame of motored biking.
I blame the HT for just about everthing and whilst I am amused at Gemma UK's motto about them helping to clean up the gene pool I think they are going to clean us all up in the process.
