the bike stuff is weak at this power level, i'm looking another way.

I hear you, following in your footsteps.
The bike stuff seems okay for the 2.8hp Tanaka 47R. With the 4.25hp+ GP460, the chain seems to be the weakest link.
Gonna try the KMC Z72 chain you recommended.
