I was concerned about the exhaust noise from my Harbor Freight gas powered auger engine. I finished my friction drive kit assembley yesterday. That engine is actually pretty quiet. I was coasting down a hill and all I heard was the whine of the drive roller on the tire. I thought the engine had cut off. Engine/exhaust noise doesn't seem to be an issue with this motor. Just a little heads-up for aonyone considering this engine.

That is good to know. How do you like it overall ?
I've only ridden the bike for about 3 miles so far. Like I said, I'm very surprised at how quiet the engine is. I friend of mine rode it tonight and it wasn't that loud from a distance either. You know, it's like if you're in a loud car or on a motorcycle it might not appear loud to you, but it is to others around on the outside. A friend rode my bike tonight and it didn't seem loud at all to me from a distance. I guess all in all, I'd have to say I'm O.K. with my engine and set up. However this is my first motorized bike, so I don't have anything to compare to, other than my 2 cycle lawn equipment. This motor doesn't seem to be as loud as my weed trimmers, blowers or chain saws, even though they're smaller engines. Time will tell the true answer here. If it holds up well, I'll be pleased. And to each his own, but I love the centrifigal clutch. I have a Grubee 50 still in the box that will be a future build, and I promise you, it will be converted to a pull start with centrifigal clutch ! But I do see maybe in the future, one of those GP460's. I'm looking for power though, not speed ! Again, I hope this helps anyone that might be considering the Harbor Freight engine.

The stock exhaust noise from a gp460 is headache loud.
You will really like the fact that it is behind you.
Nice power at 8,000 plus to 12 ,000 rpm stock.
