Do It Yourself Springer Fork

I dont know if any one has posted this.
I just purchased a OCC chopper The wall mart model with no front brake, instead it has pegs. LOL for $25.00.
I finally destroyed the steel frame on my motorized bike.
I am going to attempt this mod this when I convert my Happy time to a chopper style motorized bike.

If u do this project how much suspension travel would u be expecting?
Hope your going to have some sort of front brake.

I will take what ever travel I can get.
I have a disc brake off a junk mini bike that I converted to a friction drive bike.
Just needs a hub mount .

I have seen one in person...it looked much more stout than my repop beehive springer
I have had the plans for a few years, but never had the tools(drill-press, grinders...etc)to build one

FYI please consider this. I use to ride one of those early 70's choppers (motorcycle). It had a springer with the same design. There is an effect called pogo. On a pedaled bike it wouldn't happen cause the bike doesn't go fast enough, but on a motored bike it could. You go into a corner as you lean over the weight carried by the fork increases. It compresses the springs in the fork. Then because there is no dampening the fork "springs" back up and the front tire "pogo's" or jumps a few inches to the outside of the turn. The wheel grabs, the springs compress, it pogos again only worse. Over and over till the turn straitens out or you aren't on the road anymore. I almost ate a guardrail because of this. If you look at any newer motorcycle springer frontends they have a shock built in to stop that action. Just make sure to really slow before hitting a sharp corner.
