Hey guys, I'm B. new to motorized bikes (1 month in), as the Law took my rights to VW enthusiasm. I started with a really bad Schwinn setup on Grubee motor. The clips came off and the motor fell onto my chain causing me to push start it home. I then took it to a local builder who welded it to the frame. Everything seemed to be going well, except i noticed he swapped out my rim and tire for an old one of his (my bike was brand new). Yesterday the bent rim caused my chain to rip my tire apart and now I am bruised up and bones a hurting... I figured I would join you guys so I don't have to deal with shady mechanics, and do to this bike what i have done with my volkswagens, get them right my darn self!

Nice to meet you!

Ahhh....cool. You want to do your own mechanic work. Then you've come to the right place.

You'll find the info you need here. You'll do fine.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the welcome. At first I felt like Pee-wee herman, but honestly my ride to work is 100 times more enjoyable now than in a car. I hope to make some really cool bikes now~!

I'm in Gilbert. How's the riding in Fountain Hills? I have to get a new rim and tire, maybe adjust the sprocket a little, then i should be good to go. I'm going to research tires and rims that aren't too expensive, then I'll be ready to cruise.

Welcome Polo,

You should find a bunch of folks in the East Valley here to help you out. I think I would go back to that dude that ripped you off of your wheels. They make nice rides down there. Up here we scavange together "stuff".

polo,
the riding in FH is really nice(wide bike lanes, courteous drivers:))
I would definitely go back for YOUR wheel also

Welcome to the forum, Polo. I commute to work once a week or so on the motor bike.
A 25 mile commute takes around 90 minutes, mainly due to traffic lights.
Street tires resist flats better than knobbys for me. A slimed tube will last me 6 months or so. The back tire was bleeding green from 7 or 8 places by the time I changed that tube. Good luck.
