Cheap W-mart bike, good assembly.

I Have

A walmart schwinn point beach, I must say the weilding on the frame is very good . The wheels are carp, but the rest of the bike is ok. I did replace the seat it was like a rock !!!!
But for under 100 bucks not bad at all.....
I would really like to get one of those 500 dollor schwins, but I could buy 5 more wally world bikes for that !!!!!!

Flap,

Those kids probably get beat with a stick if they quit working for more than a second.

It's legal there!

Speaking of bargains, Jack said he ordered an IPED step thru for $199 online, (not a folding bike), that has a seat with a backrest of some type. 21 speed, iirc.

I had no success doing an online search, he says he'll get it within 10 days, when I can go get a picture.

Well, I went and looked at Jack's iPed, 21 speed step through, pedals forward, I think the back rest can be moved to a better/wider/heavier springed saddle without much effort. The rear stays fit GEBE's spokering.

$199 ain't bad for all the potential.

iPed Reclining Bike With Backrest
Ride longer with less strain on your back and knees with this innovative 21 speed backrest bike!

Biking is one of the best forms of exercise. But traditional bikes can be hard on your back and lower body - especially as you get older. This bike has a special "cruiser" design that puts the pedals in front of you so you can pedal it easier than any other bike. Plus, it has a BONUS removable, padded backrest for excellent support and comfort and is quality crafted with brand name components by Kenda® and Shimano®. Features steel frame with elevated handlebars, 26" tires, adjustable hand brakes, aluminum alloy wheels and a wide soft seat. NOTICE: Heartland America was fortunate to secure limited allocations of these iPed reclining bikes. We urge you to order early to avoid disappointment.

You're right. That looks like it does have a lot of potential for only 200 bucks.

If that back rest and head set/handlebars have enough adjustment, then it could have some great pedaling power.

Those handlebars are wiiiiiiiide, and the front pedal cover looks to be a grey polyvinyl, (or maybe its just heavy plastic). Anyway, no rust.

Looking in K-Mart and Wal Mart recently, I saw nothing that really catches my eye.

It's lightweight, but heavier thornproof tubes, maybe a big front basket, would make it a really stable ride.

On my 21speeds, the front sprockets, med and hi, are the only ones I really use, but I like them because they climb hills so much easier.

The other issue that I have with department-store bikes is frame size. I really need a bike with a larger frame, and you just can't get them at Walmart/Target/KMart/...

Yes, loquin, that's one big demerit to the big box store bikes. If you're as little as 6 ft tall, then you're out of the range that they stock for.

I got around that, though, by using a long bent seat post. That makes any bike comfortable.

Did you weld your own BGW, or is there now such a thing on the market?

New pedal forward bikes being $50-100 more than the standard pedal position, that is a great way to get taller folks on less expensive bikes.
