I just got finished installing the motor in my OCC chopper and I cant get it to fire up.I pulled out the spark plug with it still connected to the wire and grounded it on the top of the motor and got spark while I peddled, but when I put the plug into the motor it doesn't want to start up.Anybody have any ideas for me? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks:confused:

So you got fuel and compression? Engine turning over (not clutch slipping)?

Perhaps try fiddling with the choke? Right now I have to pull-start with the choke on, and then once it fires once... BARELY open up the choke until the engine has warmed up.

Either that, or you've got a problem with the clutch cable.

that's amazing -- a true first !!!

I'll check it out. When I keep peddling with the plug out it wants to fire but won't stay running.

never seen that before
with the plug out -- it wants to fire ???

all we need here is gas, spark and some air

which ((probably only one)) are you missing ?

then you will be riding that MB thing

Sounds like no fuel to me.

After you try to start, take out the plug. Does it smell of gas? If not, trace the fuel system from the tank to and through the carb to see where gas is getting and where it is not...and I almost hate to say this, but make sure you know which way is open on the petcock.

Well it definetly sounds like a fuel problem from all the responses.Yeah, when I pull the plug out of the motor,I can pedal it and the plug will arc when I ground it on the top of the motor but then no go when I reinstall it.I''ll check all of my fuel flow today and hopefully find the problem.Thanks,guys.

LOL but a vented cap that's not venting will not give you any fuel! pull the supply line at the carb turn on the gas make sure you have flow. My new motor was a b*** to get started the first time only because I didn't think I needed to choke the **** out of it first! and pedal fast and wait for it to start it will if it don't after 5 trys pull the plug it should wet and smell like fuel, check for spark check the gap check compressing with your finger.air fuel spark compression timing that's it. let us know

tablespoon hot gas stuff into jug -- bang bang ??

tablespoon of gas into plug hole

any bang bang ??

if so -- bang bang -- gas is not getting through

as we ride those things
