Actually, it may be more fitting...and less infringing... to call them something like "Pot-Metal Posterior" rides.

If you are not familiar, an "Iron Butt" motorcycle ride is a very long ride in a relatively short time. the Iron Butt Association (IBA)

Here are some examples of their sanctioned rides:

BunBurner GOLD- 1500 documented miles in under 24 hours!
BBG3000- Two back-to-back BunBurner GOLD rides; 3000 miles in 48 hours!
100k Club- 100,000 documented miles in one year.
50CC- Coast to Coast in under 50 hours!
100CCC- Coast to Coast, and back to the starting Coast, all under 100 hours!
48-10- Ride all lower 48 states in 10 days!
48 Plus!- 49 States in 10 Days ride (ride to all 48 continental states plus Alaska!
Border-to-Border Insanity!- Mexico-USA-Canada in less than 24 Hours!

There are several others.

Due to the lower speed of our bikes and the comparative danger of riding at night (because, in part, of the lower speeds), not to mention the inability to use interstates, we could come up with some MB rides that would qualify for membership in the club.

Suggestions?

Ride to Glory!

Way out west here, we are considering setting up a 3-4 day ride, invite local news and radio (maybe they will not show?) and do a "fuel-saving alternative transportation" ride. Anyway I'm sure you-all can see the plan?

I'm thinking 150-175 mpd and then that would be tempered by the placement of the parks where we would stop and get media if possible.

OHHH for you who may not know, MPD= Miles per Day. So we are looking at 500-600 miles depending upon the route. Hoping to stay very coastal, if possible.

what do you-all think?

it's a great idea Mike
just happen to know a reporter in your area
Jim Sweeny with the Sacramento Newspaper
((when the time is right)) will try to hook you guys up if you wish ??

if he decides to do a story
it can be asked of Jim to invite one of his TV reporter friends
sometimes this will happen
but not often due to them usually wanting to be the only ones doing story that day
