Please foregive my noobness about this subject. Although I have been an avid bicyclist for many years, I have not been keeping up with bicycle makes and models, especially within the Cruiser type bikes.

I am currently about to buy a Schwinn Point Beach Cruiser. Of course it will have a motor as soon as I can put it in. My questions are:

1) Walmart advertises this bike with an "aluminum frame". Is this true?

2) What is a Schwinn Jaguar? I notice the frame looks very similar to the Point.

3) Another brand called XYZ has a frame that looks suspiciously like the Point. Is the XYZ and the Schwinn using the same frame?

4) Why is the Point so popular for motorization?

5) How does it compare to the Micargi/Greenline "extended" cruiser frames?

Thanks all.

Funny you should bring it up, I'm working on one right now.

I just conquered the rattling front fender, with 2 rubber washers up top, and clipping some extra tire liner to make sure no metal touches metal down below.

I've done a few Jaguars, and a few Pointe Beaches. Basically they are the same, except Jaguars are blue, and PB's have fenders and a rear rack.

Neither have a built in place for a bottle holder. Both have smallish front sprockets, ribbed grips and small pedals, and the saddles are non-starters for motorized bikes, will have to be upgraded, imho.

Jaguar is my basic Chevrolet starter bike.

My Point Beach is Alum. frame

look down on the back of the frame by rear wheel it says alum.
also you can tell by those TIG welds...

The seat just has to go !!!! it's like a rock !!!! or worse !!!
and the tires and tubes are carp !!! Dont even waste your time .... replace them now !!! I got a rear flat less than 1 hour after getting the motor going..

But the rest of the bike is Great !!!! I got mine for like under 100 bucks on sale at wallmart...

I removed the rear rack and rear fender since my GEBE would not clear them.
Anybody want a rack !!!!

I think I will pull the front fender this weekend, Just dont trust it !!!

Great bike for the price everybody loves it !!!

This bike (the Schwinn landmark) is the same as the Jaguar (diff paint)
built this one this past weekend. Got it at wallmart

Thanks guys.

So if the Point is aluminum, it should be lighter. Walmart says shipping weight is 42 lbs. Does that sound light? My only comparison is my K2 Attack mountain bike and that thing is very light for a FS bike.

Will the aluminum hold up to the pounding of 25+ mph?

Bamabikeguy, it seems I have chosen a good first motorized bicycle.

I wish I had known about the colors because I got a red one! I prefer the blue but it's okay. I can live with red. My current Mountain bike is yellow so I shouldn't complain.

I don't have the bike yet as I ordered via mail. But the picture online had it without fenders and I have no inclination to mount them. I kind of prefer the look of no fenders on this bike.

I can't wait!!!

These were 2008 models, with the full fenders. I prefer half fenders, like Sun Retro's use, but for all I know, the 2009's are without those features.

Two customers with Jaguar's spent $12 to get bigger front sprockets, to add a little more oooomph to the pedal powering part, and one of those customers bought some kind of NEW 14'-16" saddle with a seat back on it he says is ultra-nice.
