Hello forum,

My name is Dan Clarke. I just opened a bike rental business in Portsmouth, NH called Wanderlust. I have pedal bikes as well as motorized bikes.

If any of you are in the Portsmouth, NH area, look me up, lets go for a ride.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Dan, I got your Email, welcome to the forum. Im going to stop by before the summer is gone. What brand of Bicycles are you using? What motors or kits have you used? Many helpful and knowledgable people on the forum.

I am using the skyhawk engine kit installed on a beach cruiser frame. So far so good, the engines are just broken in. I have engines on 19" frames w/26" tires and 17"frames with 24" tires.

welcome
that's cool
let's see how good I am at guessing here if you would

to rent motorized bicycle for the day 50 dollars ??

or 10 dollars an hour ??

good luck running a fun business -- as we ride those things

hey mountainman, Good guess, how does $12/hr and $50/day sound?

Thanks for the encouragement.

Cheers,

Dan

how much insurance do you have?
what if your customer gets seriously injured or killed on one of your motor bikes?
good luck

more paper work in this world !!!!!

I would have a good lawyer friend of mine
write up a waiver of liability
fairly simple if drawn up by the real one
all who ride will sign and show ID
and no one under legal age to ride

I owned a bicycle shop many many many years ago
a must to have someTHING covering our tailpipes !!!!
no we didn't have the waiver
carried insurance
but insurance on these THINGS if rented thinking will be very high ??

not sure how many manys will fit into one line ???? dang I am getting old

Yeah, tough question, no one wants to think about that stuff...

I am carrying insurance on the MB's. We had a policy written through a company that does motorcycle and scooter rental policies. Without going into details and numbers, I'll just say the coverage is about the same as my personal auto policy on each MB.

However, we have a comprehensive check list that we go through on each rental and despite the insurance, the renter signs a waiver and accepts personal responsibility. We provide helmet and goggles. What more can one do?

Excuse me while I rant a little.. but there is a huge problem with litigation in this country and people not taking responsibility for their own actions and decisions. Don't get me started...

Besides, I'm in New Hampshire..Live Free and Die, right?

Anyway, I'll stop before I get carried away.

Cheers,

Dan
