I have a rear friction drive kit like those sold by Staton Inc.

I am using a used Kawasaki 44cc 2 cycle engine which runs well. However, it does not have a kill switch on it yet suitable for bike use. To stop the engine, I have to connect two wires.

I have bought a kill switch which has two wires. One is green and one red. I am not yet sure which one needs to go into the plug on the kawasaki... any tips and information appreciated.

Thanks.

Its not a Lucas set up where poles are reversed ? Is the plug color coded ? Try red (hot) from plug in then green to engine for ground. See if matching colors are at plug . Plug in. Good luck. Did you google the wireing diagram ?
Your ride must fly.Good idea for a nice set up.

Well, one wire on the engine must be the hot spark wire that goes to the CDI and the other is just the ground wire attached to the engine block. If your kill switch has two wires they must just complete a circuit when the button is pressed. I'd say just hook up the wires any way and it should work from what you've said. If the engine doesn't start reverse the wires. If the engine still doesn't start or the kill switch doesn't work it's time to start probing with a continuity tester and pulling the hood off your engine to see where the wires lead.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy riding that friction thang!

I prefer to kill my motor using the choke. Put choke on all the way and go WOT, engine should die pretty quickly. This also lets you find out if theres an air leak anywhere.

It's a good idea for EVERYBODY to have a handlebar mounted kill switch. In the event your throttle gets stuck wide open you may not have time to flip the choke on before you zoom and SPLAT. It's well worth the 10 minutes of work.

While your throttle is stuck opened (which is very easy to happen) and you are riding is a horrible time to find out that you have an air leak.

Confused

There are two wires. Worst case scenario temp twist wires together ( both sets ) try to start the motor. If it does not want to start switch the wires. You are good to go now.

So go ride that thing.
