This happened on the road I live on, a couple of miles from my house.
I don't know the riders but the followup in the morning paper says the guy on the MB is in "fair condition".

This is a poorly lit section of road. He was going the wrong way against the traffic flow, w/out lights and wearing dark clothing and no helmet. Police estimate he was doing 30+ when he smacked into the bicyclist. The guy on the bicycle was in the bike lane, riding with traffic and had a light.

I have a friend on the force and he told me this evening his chief wants to make the fact that it was a motorized bike a big deal, as the story says:
"Police are investigating all factors that contributed to the crash."

I wish people would use their head for something other than to wrap bandages on.

I certainly hope all parties make it through ok... But, Man, How flippin stupid could you be than to go faster than what you could see ahead of you?

does a motorised skate board count as a motorised bike?

i wear a helmet on anything motorised both for the safety but more so the cops dont hassle me ive been pulled over on my 66cc 3 times now heres wat happened

riding an unregistered vehicle i had no lights and i keep under 25 at night unless im on a big long strait road with no traffic i can see i got pulled over i had no lights all 3 times they just didnt like the motor even tho i had pedals i said i had lights sir but one fell off and the rears blown up i had helmet on but ive only ever been hassled once on my motorised skateboard today i rode past 4 coppas

Bikes are supposed to follow all traffic rules. I've had a few close calls with bicyclists (not roadies) riding against traffic or ignoring traffic signals/signs. It doesn't matter whether there is an engine on it. You can argue that the sound of the engine will atract more attention.

At least the guy on the regular bike only sustained minor injuries. Too many times, the guys that are responsible for the accident walk away with no injuries and the innocent bystander gets injured or killed.

yes.....i never ride into on coming traffic under no circumstance i wont jaywalk or anything i use crossings etc if i do have to ride on foot paths due to cars in bike lanes r no bike lanes then i keep under 20kmh and if i obey all rules then if someone else ****s up im not in the **** the other persons at fault and they get hit with the fine insurance etc etc etc and if i get a leg broken or something due to there error then i get compensation for it

For crying out loud........

I won't go quite so far as to wish that this guy is never able to ride any kind of bike again. But if it happens, he asked for it.

He did everything just as wrong as can be. But the police chief is focused on the motor.

There's more than one idiot involved in this. The second one is liable to make things hard for our MB brothers in Springfield MA. Such a shame.

safe manner -- the THING

does a motorised skate board count as a motorised bike?

no a motorized shate board (in all places that I had heard about)
is not as a motorized bicycle
the board with wheels THINGS seem to be pretty darn legal though in most places
here they require no drivers license of any type
must be 16 years of age
requiring a head helmet to be worn..

hoping that all out there today will ride in a safe manner -- the THING

i hope they also factor in that the mb-rider was a complete idiot.

i feel for other riders in the area, bad times ahead for them i fear.

and i surely hope the bicyclist is ok...seems he was doing his part to stay safe.

It all goes back to what I've been sayin on this board from the get go.

X can only have 1 beer and drive... Now nobody else could have more than 1. We should all chip in and send him a pic me up boquete (with poison ivy) to his Hospitol bed!
