flying horse vs. skyhawk 80cc engines

I am looking to buy either of these but i am wondering which one is more reliable. Anyone have an opinion or experience with either of these engines?

I can't tell you about the Skyhawk but I now own two Flying Horse engines.
One silver and one black. Both are from Bike Berry.
The silver is just past break in and the black has just over an hour on it.
Both look great, went together with no problems and run well.

Skyhawk has superior intallation hardware, and overall better fit and finsh than a JFH sourced engine. Note that any of these kits needs a quick "once over" before you even start them up.

Read the pre build check list at the top of the forum... The engines life can vary greatly on your mechanical aptitude. The fasteners/bolts/hardware supplied and installed in the engines isnt super high quality at all. So its good to replace the important stuff, like head studs, mounting studs and the nuts with a locking type. If your not able to do that, just be care to not over tighten anything, while also keeping an eye on everything... You cant really ride it and forget it. These engines need some love every now and then. They are so simple. and can be tons of fun.

Yup - pretty much what he said. Especially on the overtightening. Just use loctite on engine mounting hardware and don't crank down too hard. 5 lb/ft of torque on an engine mount may not seem like much, but it provides a lot of clamping force!

Also drill a hole in the tensioner and use a screw pin to prevent it from rotating into the spokes after you get it set up. Make sure chain is not slack. A loose chain can jump and lock the rear tire. Not fun.
