2 stroke oil importance in quality

I put two tanks of dino oil, for the break in, (WallyWorld stuff - not the outboard oil..). Then went with the Maxima Super M. Have been running Maxima Super M for the last 4 tanks. I plan to switch to the Maxima 927 after I finish up the "M" bottle.

My Grubee Gen II is running solid so far.

If you really want to use castor oil, just go to your local hobby shop and look in the section where they sell model airplane fuel. They'll have "degummed" castor oil in that section.

I don't think that these happy times engines get hot enough or rev high enough to take advantage of the properties of castor oil. At this point, I am just using Pennzoil TC rated two stroke oil. 32:1 for everything two stroke in my garage. I was using Mobil 1 MX2T synthetic and it was very good two stroke oil. Definitely overkill for what I was using it for, but I bought few gallons of the stuff a few years back when they discontinued the stuff and it was on closeout. (cheaper than dino oil) The advantage of the synthetic was virtually no carbon deposits in the exhaust ports and ring lands.

I abuse my HT engines with severe use going up mountains for miles and miles on hot summer days. I've had my exhaust pipe turn cherry red from lugging the engine for miles on end going slow (not enough airflow over engine cooling fins). Never had an engine seize on me from overheating or lubrication failure. I attribute this to a touch of castor in each gallon of fuel I use.

In your particular case, I guess castor might be a good addition! I can't imagine stressing out an HT engine to the point where the exhaust pipe starts to glow! The only abuse mine sees is the occassional WFO sprint at 32 mph for a few minutes down a deserted road. Other than that, it is putt-putt at 20mph.

Wonder what kind of oil the use in China ???

Probualy the cheapest
on the planet ..
like 50 cents a quart....

Wonder if they have gas stations that sell premix ??

would be cool if somebody sold a small oil injector you could use on the engines ... That could be dialed up for different ratios.

Well, my guess is that they specify the low ratio mix (16:1 - 20:1) because two stroke specific oil may not be widely available in some areas of China or other developing countries where the HT was used for basic transportation. Some old 2 smoke equipment I own say you can use regular motor oil at a low ratio (16:1) OR you can use two stroke oil at a higher ratio like 32:1.

Oil injection systems on two strokes are many times are disabled in favor of pre-mixed fuel. If the oil injection system clogs, you blow up your engine. Much safer to pre-mix and know your engine is getting lubrication.

I don't think they sell these HT kits in China anymore. I believe they just export them to the poor countries.

I have

A old sears 7.5 HP outboard from the 60's and the book says to use mator oil in the gas ... When did 2 stroke oil come out ?????
