If you want a basic education to empower your knowledge of internal combustion engines and their methods of operation and maintainance, this website is a great place to start.

I've commented on the debate over 2-stroke oil ratios and those who have read my posts, know my opinion, formed from research well prior to finding this website.
Scroll down to No 36 under Lubrication.

While I love Dan's MC repair pages, the lubrication link for two strokes is simply his opinion.

Millions of outboard engine owners can tell you that 50:1 ratio is fine.

Some are of the opinion that "quality, not quantity" is their two stroke oil mantra. So 100:1 of "quality" two stroke oil is better than 20:1 of "junk" two stroke oil.

Some say "more is better" and they never heard of an engine damaged from too much oil.

The truth (as always) is in between the two.

Everyone has their own "secrets" - whether it be Sea Foam, synthetic, castor oil, etc. To each his own, I'll just keep it simple.

Carry on.

Hey Fabian. I wanted to say THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH for this post. I am new to motor bikes and don't have the slightest knowledge in tools or how engines work. I am actually looking for a basic mechanics class in my area right now. I am going to refer to your page as often as I can and I'm SURE I will learn a LOT.

Thank you sooo much once again for your contribution to guys like me.

My 1.3L rotary engine in my rx7 convertible runs at 100:1. My last one lasted 200+k miles.

I don't have a problem with 20:1 as long as it isn't shooting massive clouds of smoke out the exhaust.

Hi dakkky

If i can provide information that helps someone, then it's been a good day
You'll learn heaps of stuff from others on this site; some very switched on people in here.

I've gained quite a lot of knowledge in the last 4 months, from others and some of my own research.

Try this link for a few more advanced concepts to increase your knowledge base.

by the way, how is your garage setup?

Hey Fabian,

Thank you very much for the link. It has a HECK of a lot of information for me to read but I will definitely get looking at it. I just took a few pictures of my garage. Its all of my dads things and its real messy.. He actually has another ROOM FULL of tools and machinery. Not exaggerating either! :p He owns and manages an apartment building and two houses. I would LOVE to learn how to do all of the things he does but he yells way too much and cant teach it in a peaceful manner. =/
Anyways, here's a few pictures of my garage. Its too bad I dont know how to use 98 percent of the things in there but Im slowly taking my time to learn now. Every now and then when I see my dad using something big, nice, and handy, Im like 'Wow! We have that?':unsure:

I just added a shaved head to the 66cc engine and a booster... Im still breaking it in with 75 miles on it. Im adding Normans light on it soon!
There are two mopeds in the garage too. Theyre almost two years old and one has 32 miles on it and the other has just above 100. The one above 100 doesnt start and I have no idea on how to fix it :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
