Rock Solid Engines laser-cut inlet gasket

Yup I'm a Alabama Fisherman...boat below....The house is "For Sale" The one on the water is what the Mississippi River flow looks like meeting the Gulf of Mexico...it's called a rip.

Word to the wise...check diameter of ANY new gasket when installing on a engine with a domed piston.

Love the boat. We have a couple of similar rips here, but not as large or well-defined.

Wow, I've now fitted 2 new gaskets without a thought. Not any more.
I've got 2 more new ones here - I'll check them out. When the billet head goes back on, there isn't much room for pieces of head gasket in there.

Sheeze Steve ! I now see your point , all this should have been sorted out before before that billet head was ever offered for-sale .
I would be not happy

Cheers Bobby .

Yeah, mate, you're getting the picture, but there's more. The inlet tube is yet another story. Thinking about it, I should have posted this in 'Parts and Accessories', but I'll probably start a thread on the inlet tube there, when I get a chance.
It seems to me that the RSE billet stuff almost fits these engines. If the heads were machined especially for this purpose, wouldn't the stock stud length have been taken into account? He suggested that I machine the head down at the studs and made no offers to do it himself, even for a fee. (Me and my hand electric drill?)
And the inlet is straight and 1 1/2" long, so the carb interferes with the clutch cable and sits at a 25-30 degree angle, also requires stud removal for allen-head screws. And buying allen-head screws.
Apparently if you buy a complete RSE engine these issues are already addressed, but as performance parts.....

Steve..even after my/your PM's, are you still having issues with the stud lengths? Also look at this, the piston won't fit through a new aftermarket gasket I bought.
First..aftermarket
Second..Stock gasket

Unreal. I'll definitely check my spares, when the head is off next.

No problems, the studs are coming. Jim went to pick them up on Saturday and the shop was closed. He was trying again Monday. (Hope they're not closed for Xmas)

Hey Steve , I just had a look at that inlet manifold for the billet head , no way that will fit on a stock engine as you said .
And as for the stud lengths being to short " stuff me " maybe hes got a expert from China working for him on quality control now ? :giggle:

He say you drill out some metal so can see stud , then hammer on nut ~ " Ahr - So " fixem goood like back when work for master Po

XenonDream, don't be put off all non-stock parts. There's some very good stuff about. SBP etc.

For other's benefit, just snapped some pics for the coming 'RSE Billet Inlet' thread.

I'll post them here, then link in the other thread.:-
(I've removed the 'o' ring, for use on my modified alloy inlet.)

AussieSteve,
Got your stud material. I will try and get them cut and hopefully get them shipped off tomorrow. How long did you want them?

Just want to note about Al.Fisherman's head gasket. It was a SBP head gasket that he had issues with. We are all about pushing the envelope and improving performance. Our gaskets are thinner and tighter in an effort to raise the compression to improve performance. We also did a little trick on the gasket and made the center hole slightly off set of the stud holes. We have found that the variations in the studs and sloppy fit of the cylinder causes most gaskets not to center on the cylinder hole. This offset allows the customer to rotate it to fit centered on the cylinder hole. Note in his photo that the piston only made contact on one side. The problem is we did not post any instructions on this or to double check fit prior to assembly. This is completely our fault. We have since slightly enlarged the cylinder hole on our gaskets to ensure this will not happen in the future. We will also do an installation instruction to assist in assembly.

Hi Jim. 2 sets x 112mm, please.
It's not super-urgent and it is Christmas, so take your time.

In Al.Fisherman's pic, I thought it looked off-centre. A bit of lateral thinking.

112mm? That seems kinda short? I was thinking 120mm min.

The other thing that Jim didn't mention - not all engines have the exact bore (imagine that?!). We thought we had accommodated all 67cc (80) engines....and to be honest Al.Fisherman is the only customer that ever had a problem and we have sold 300+ HG's.

PS: We are in no way associated with the funky intake gaskets. Just wanted to be clear on that! (yikes)
