Unfair to compare rear mount to ht engines from china

I agree about a lot of people putting down HT due to quality but I can have a lot of fun porting polishing tuning a pushing one of these engines to the limit and if I push it to hard a new engine is under $100 shipped to my door. I own a Toyota for when I want to get some where reliably in comfort. My HT is the most fun for the least price going, you can't say that for a rack-mount.

AS Chiefdouglas and other say the HT is a whole lot of fun for little money even with upgrades, provide those mechanicaly inclined with a whole lot of fun tinkering, and look like an old 1930s motorcycle..what more can you ask for

A real 1930's motorcycle in good restoreable condition for the same price as a HT!

I wasn't comparing a rack mount to a frame mount....just giving my reasons for going with the kit that I did. Any by the way, mine is a 2 stroke engine (Mitsubishi TLE 43 - under $300 when I built my bike). If you think getting 1000 miles out of an engine is acceptable, that's fine. I know that the good quality Japanese engines are rated at 600 hours, so even at a modest 20mph speed, that works out to 12,000 miles. Many go way more than that. If you like the frame mounted engines, then build those....I have nothing against them, believe me. I just don't have time to be doing constant maintenance and tweaking to my bicycle....have too many other things that require my time and attention. Peace.

That's cool warner. There are some h.t.'s that lasted 5000 to 10,000 miles.I do agree they require maintenance and you got a great motor. You need not explain your style of ride to me.I am not God or your parents.I have a honda 50 cc rack mount put up until I can figure out a way to make It frame mounted.I got 1000 out of mine so far.I ride 40 miles a week on It and all I am saying Is that frame mounts need to get a lil" more advanced.I admit.Kinda taking a **** shoot on a decent ht.And I work 6 days a week and Found my grubee gt5 to be the best one so far. It's rough. But I do preventative maintenance once a month to be sure all Is well.I just think It's unfair that companies will not produce frame mounted engines with the reliability that come with the rear mount engines. If gebe and staton would offer frame mounted engines.I would look Into one.Where I stand and how I see things.I will be getting a morini off pirate cycles In a few weeks and doing a custom build frame and all.I am partial on 2 strokes because they are easier to work on and cheaper for parts. But maybe I'll try a 4 stroke out down the road.Did not mean to cause any offense and sorry If I did.I just think that It's kinda unfair that In frame engines are not offered In better quality as rear mounts.I respect your opinion nonetheless and wish you a nice week.:D And btw,My engine still running at 1000 miles no probs yet. If you got the kit I seen them from 589 to 1000 bucks on gebe and stanton.Dax has titan rear mount and now
in frame kits for 350 bucks complete.

I'll settle this debate once and for all. Rack mounts are for those of us who have evolved with the times and take pleasure in riding. HTs are for those who look at some thing and scratch their heads trying to figure out, How Does It Go? Rack mount people drink Sam Adams beer while HTs drink PBR. Rack mount people use an air compressor to air up their tires, HTs use their lips. Well those are just a few examples etc..........

One more example that sets an HT rider apart from a rack mount rider. I saw an HT rider pulling into a gas station and saw that he was sitting on the frame and thought dang thats gotta be a rough ride. I asked him why doesnt he sit on the seat when riding, he looked back and scratched his head and said dang thats what thats for huh.
