I was just thinking, Duck(duct, whatever)tape rocks and so does quiet engines. So, what if we had a bad paint job we wanted to cover up? Take some nice thick ducktape and put it on the covers and bottom end of the engine with strips of the tape. I think it would look cool and maybe if layered it would deaden the sound of the clutch and misc. noise. Of course, nothing on the jug and head, that would not be smart, but a black top end with the fins sanded bare on the tips, that would look kinda cool. I might do it with my temporary engine that i got from gnt. (Thanks george!) It needs some help but it should run fine and get me around until I can afford/find an 80cc Slant Head.

Tell me what yall think,

You're kidding right?

As a professional duct tape applicator, I am obligated to let you know that is a really bad idea. Duct tape is not going to stay on, as the backing will turn to a sticky Godawful gooey mess. It's not made to stand up to the heat your motor
will produce. Once it shrivels from the heat, getting the residual goo off the motor will be a night-mare trust me.
A better option would be high- temp spray paint. De grease the engine first with a spray cleaner. Brake cleaner leaves no residue.
Tape would effectively act as an insulator, trapping engine heat in.
If you want to quiet the engine noise, remove the clutch cover and smear a thin layer off 100% silicone caulk on the back side of it.
SBP also sell a sound deadening cover for the outside of the clutch plate.
I have both and it works wonders.
Duct tape isn't even good for ducts.
