New Guy

That is an OK choice. My first build was a Cranbrook. I love it and ride it often.

There are problems that I am not happy with. 1. Braking....coaster only is not a good thing, I am in process of fitting it with a front brake. 2. Single speed....after running out of gas once pedaling home was a pain. 3. Fenders look cool, but my advice is lose them. Do not try to modify them to make them stronger, just get rid of them.
My next build will be on a Schwinn. 20100207_40.jpgThe only mod I plan to do is to lose the front fender.
Good choice on the kit. Stay away from the cheep e-bay buys. There is a vendor review section here that you will find quite help-full.

Welcome to the forum. A motorized bike makes it easy to learn basic troubleshooting. There isn't any electronics except the CDI. You can make parts from things at the hardware store.
I agree that you need a front brake no matter what you have on the rear. You can buy a single brake lever that will activate both brakes from a vendor or on ebay.

It is what gives spark to the plug. It recieves power from the magneto and then uses that and a signal to spark the pulg at the right moment.

moon 003.jpg Here it is on a bike.

If you use the search engine you can find out more about it.

Ok Thanks

So this may seem an odd question, but would the CDI get fried if a solar flare or emp hit it?

Or is it solid state?

I also highly recommend the "stickies". Here is one with the links to answer many questions you might have. http://www.motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=28255
Do not be discouraged by some of the things you read. My Happy Time (slang for the Chinese two stroke) has provided me with many hours of enjoyment with no problems. Yet I will say that it is worthwhile to know of any potential problems.

If an EMP strong enough to take it out happened, my first worry would be concerning the power to my house and my computer.
:giggle:Solar Flare might cause damage if it was hit directly......How high do you plan on driving....and how fast.

Not sure but I think it is solid state.....others may be able to answer, I have not found an answer for you so a thread in the 2 stroke forum might be a good place for you to start.
