How fast was too fast?

The fairing should reduce wind resistance quite significantly, and wind resistance is the primary factor slowing you down when you are on the flat.

On the other hand, the small diameter back wheel should limit your top speed.

45mph which was past my comfort zone. I hit 58mph on a long decent just coasting and no motor with fairing and body sock
 
Yeh, I feel very comfortable at 33 mph, the fastest my bike can go on the flat. But taking a downhill at 40 mph (my bike's max on downhill) makes me nervous.

Was the 45 mph on the flat or downhill?

It was on the flat "BUT" under perfect conditions [no head wind ,some tail wind and almost perfect nice flat newly paved road]:helmet:
