Has anyone tried Optimol fuel additive? You use it instead of oil. Add 1oz per gallon of gas (1:64...right?). Friends I know use it in their 2-cycle motored chainsaws and such and swear by it.
I'm thinking it would allow more fuel for a bigger bang
Any opinions?

1 gallon = 128 fluid ounces

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

Some oils can be mixed 100:1, but studies show better power at much higher oil ratio in the premix. Use a good oil. Mix it 32:1. Set your jet correctly. If that is too oily, try 40:1 or 50:1.

which studies?

if this were the case we would premix everything....

oil doesnt burn, and yes..its true. less oil means more fuel.

then you need to retune the carby to compensate.

personally though, ive never heard of this stuff, so no comment.

but id be wary of anything mixed that lean in a 2 stroke... ive only ever seen one recomend 100:1...

but hey! what sort of guarantee do they provide? :) could be good stuff after all...

because...

99% of oils flaunt their "easy mix" properties... a special additive :)

yes, very special. kerosene. which is an abrasive. used for machining of aluminum...

NOT FOR USE IN AIRCRAFT ENGINES...ever seen that warning on a bottle? some carry it. cus of the "additive"

in the air, your life depends on your oil being pure... very clean and very very hard to mix. also very very good :)

iunno. ill give your optimol a go if i see it around :)

oil doesn't burn? that's a new one on me.
how the heck did they burn the oil that was on top of the water in the gulf of mexico after the oil spill?
must have been done with cgi or something.

ok, fine oil burns.

technically petrol is oil.

axle grease will burn given enough heat.

even moth balls burn...

theyre all petroleums.

what i meant is that the oil isnt INTENDED to burn in the cylinder.... blue smoke is oil that isnt burnt...

Optimal (Opti 2) has exceeded all specs
world wide! The ratio is 1:100! PS....US gallon
is 128 ounces.(I round it to 130). 1 US gallon
will use 1 ounce of Opti 2. 2.5 gallons will need 2.5 ounces. Because power equipment
is expensive I always a bit more (3 ounces for
a 2.5 gallon container. We call this insurance!
I began using Optimol about 1987 and have
never changed. My only gripe is that most of my equipment last so long that I often have trouble finding replacement parts!!!!!
Use premium grade gasoline for your mix, and yes try to find local gas with NO ethanol!

I splurged for opti2 and was ready for fireworks, screeching,...and a final death rattle. never happened,...100-to-1. it is also keeping my old-ish gas in my premix gas can from separating/getting funky. I had heard it has stabilizer in it,..but this gas DOES have ethanol,..and it's still a-ok. (2 months mixed)

me likey. 30 bucks a bottle but ,...you use so damned little it pays for itself. if I had a dirt bike I would be using it in that too.

bought it on ebay

(--also,...my gas can has a really tight sealing lid,..like,....totally sealed)
