Any one know of a better after market gas tank for a straight top tube frame? im looking for something longer, thinner and sleeker than the stock stamped steel tanks that come with the kits.

I bought this tank. It was not cheap, but it looks great. 13.5 inchs long 1.2 gallons.

wow gasbikeproject, that is so nice looking. You just gave me the best idea for my next build. Hope you dont mind but i saved this picture and plan on making this someday. This is the first build Ive seen using those kind of rims and a jack shaft.

very impressed with your bike, good job

this one isn't "sleeker", but it is bigger and looks better than the stock tanks. This is the one I bought. Shipping was only like 3 days from Taiwan

Whizzer Fat Tank

the channel is deep enough that it covers the whole cross bar and then some-- keeping it from looking like it's just perched on the bar like the stock tanks. Mounted with U bolts from the hardware store

it costs $50 less because it's less than half the size :)

No, my 4-liter tank holds 136 fluid ounces; yours contains 154 ounces. So 18 ounces more capacity for $50 more.

BTW, I also carry an 18-ounce aluminum fuel container in my bottle cage. It cost me $5.95.

Sooo, I carry 154 ounces for $44.05 less than that 1.2 gallon Whizzer-type fuel tank.

I only ride about 50 miles weekly, at most. So I fill my gallon jug as often as I fill my Toyota Camry. Instead of carrying all that gas in my tank(which weighs 9 lbs), I ride with a half-tank of gas.

Im not really concerned with capacity, truthfully a 1/2 gallon would be plenty.
i once saw a long thin smooth tank for one of the chopper styled bikes, or maybe one of the old school long thin coffin styled tanks you see on retro type bikes.
anythings better than that stamped steel "lip" on the pressed tanks... i might have to make it myself.
thanks for your comments.
