I'm on my first build and trying to put a 80cc into a beachcruiser but trying to pack the gas tank inside of the triangle and velcro strapping my gas tank to the underside of my top tube. my engine seems to have the front end turned down at a not so steep angle to sit comfortably (with a rubber sleeve) over the front down tube. I've heard horror storys of the chain hopping of and jamming inside of clutch case i guess its called. is angle a factor? i plan on getting a aftermarket chain tensioner so i'm hoping slack won't be an issue. i put this in safety because this could get you hurt.

All motors carburators w/floats are designed to operate in a level position, if not level it interferes with the gravity feed of the fuel and the float wont work properly.

the only time the chain will get screwy at an angle is if the angle is so severe that the chain can rub the bottom of the clutch housing. give yourself at least 1 inch clearance to account for later slacking of the chain

eta you might need to adjust your intake tube to allow for a level carb
what kit do you have?

i have the boy go fast 150 dollar ebay kit. like this but black. http://cgi.ebay.com/Chrome-80CC-mot...ryZ75211QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

i was going to slightly lengthen my intake kinda like this but not as long http://www.dragonfly75.com/motorbike/EIntake.html
that would help me get my carburetor level and hopefully help me get some low end power as i was expecting to get a smaller sprocket so i could have a little bit higher top speed if i wanted it and hopefully give me less noise by having a higher near idling speed.

The longer intake will exaggerate the problem, Unless you Bend it.. :giggle:

i planned on putting flexible tubing on the intake and zip tying it to the seat post in a level position. so i guess it will be bent.

As long as you mount the carb levelthis should work, I dont know about a flexible tube but as long as it is sturdy and fuel proof I dont see a problem
the actal motor could be mounted upside down if you choose, it doesnt matter with a 2 stroke

I live in Tucson, And have not had a problem, I have very steep hills and by steep i mean i cant even pedal up them on a normal bike, all it takes to take the hill is A little pedaling, No effort required at all... The only effort is trying to not flip backwards :)

The only problem with heat ive had is it does tend to melt the gaskets much more often then i would like :( Could just be the cheapo Gaskets too?
