Gascap venting.

Anyone ever worry their gascap isnt vented properly and drilled a hole in the top?

Have any stories/experience with this? i was looking at it and thinking it wasnt properly vented..

My gas cap after a long ride hisses at me. way to much pressure buildup! One day it will pop off and go flying LOL

eh screw it, ill drill a hole in it then and see what happens.

I made a gas cap out of a chrome valve cover oil fill cap. for a custom gas tank and i drilled a small hole in the top to vent it. I covered the hole with a small pewter hollow backed, hollow eyes, skull & cross bones to hide the hole. it works great and the hollow skull allows it to still vent how it should.

Why not just unscrew the gas cap while you're riding?

so you can take one hand off the bars, possibly lose control or have gas splash all over?
that wouldn't be a good idea.
the cap has ot be vented to work rightg, taking the cap off while riding is not a solution.

I wish they made caps like theses for the kits. Just unplug the nobby thing on top to release buildup.
