would a Briggs and stratton engine (2.5hp) work with a friction drive setup(similar to a weed eater bike) ?? or would it be too heavy and powerful??

If its just the 2.5hp you should be fine, assuming you can fabricate mounts and such. However if your using the engine in your picture, which appears to be a briggs world formula engine (a beast of an engine), its not going to work for it will be much too heavy and powerful.

that was just because it was a clean image of a Briggs, the engine i will use is a Briggs (Japanese clone) 2hp, but it vibrates like crazy, metal fatigue could be a problem

also legality isn't an issue as it's for private off road use

Once firmly mounted on the bicycle, it might not vibrate as much.:geek:

Use swatches of bicycle tire(not tubing) to insulate the mounting.

Since it for private off-road use, I say go for it.:giggle:
