EZ-3 USX HD Trike

20 inch wheel

what kinda speed do you get with a 20 inch wheel and a friction drive. I am thinking of a friction drive on a penninger trike which is a delta like your USX. My thought is to put it on the right side of the back the same as you did. The trike drives from the left side under normal pedal power. Also what size roller did you use. Mike

Nice trike. Is that a Dimension Edge kit?

On Friction drive, wheel size doesn't matter on top speed.

Dave, I am not clear why a tire size on a friction drive doesn't matter. It appears to me that the roller size and tire size is the gear ratio, just my thought. Also I see that you live in Pittsburg Ks, I live in Toronto Kansas not that far away. Glad to find another motor biker fairly close. Thanks Mike

Mike,
The distance the surface of the roller moves on the tire = the distance the surface of the tire moves on the ground. Another way to say it is that one revolution of the roller does not equal one revolution of the tire. There is no gear ratio.

I knew that, just thought I would ask a stupid question. Thank you. That reenforces my idea for a friction drive on my pennenger trike. Mike
