Clutch clutch adustments help please

My engine NEVER used to idle when I clutched it until I completely rebuilt it myself. . Was never a problem for 3000 kilometres +

Do you really need it to run while clutched? You don't really want to slip the clutch on start off on these things, and killing it when coming to a halt will save wear on your clutch pads, then just pedal off and rollstart again.

really?
I ride my bikes like motorcycles with no pedaling at all...been doing it that way for 3 years now with no problems or clutch adjustments needed.
you gotta love the advice of a newb, especially when that advice is wrong.

True, I never have had any problems with clutch, and I weigh 255.....................I've just adjusted a few times. Going over 2/yrs now+

Idle

Yeah CM 2929, I think I got it now. For some reason the bike wont idle at a stop. If it will still rev up and you can keep it running with the clutch in, we just need to figure out the idle. FIRST, make very sure the intake to the engine and to the carb is sealed on both ends. You can check for leaks by drizzling water over the connections. While keeping it reved so it don't die, drizzle a little water over them. if there's an air leak it should almost kill the engine. I still don't know if you REALLY tried the idle screw all the way in. The BRASS SCREW with the small spring on the side of your carb is the idle screw. Turn it ALL the way in. That should take the idle TOO high. If you only tried a turn or two it might have not been enough. Also make sure you fuel/oil mix is right. I just use 8oz per gallon of gas on a broke in engine. I'm no math teacher so I don't even TRY to figure out what the heck 50:1 is. I've never seized an engine myself so I guess I'm close enough. On a new engine I throw in an extra oil cap full in the tank to make sure. But too oil rich and the bike will have a hard time running. So the mix has to be close.
Anyway, check this stuff out and get back to me. We'll get it idling one way or another.
Big Red.

Yeah Moto, A guy with barely enough posts to be a "Member" and got lucky with one build, his first, is giving advice. He really needs to listen and learn before he does any more of that. I've been doing this a while and I'm still learning a thing or two.

fixed it

i finially figured it out. i did not have the carb pin adjusted to the right notch. so the motor did not get enough gas. i had the pin set to low so i readjusted pin and thing runs like a top, better power and it stays running when clutch is engaged.:D thanks big red for the other advise it was precise and sound even though i found fix on my own

I knew it would be something simple if it ran good otherwise. Did you move the pin yourself or come from the factory that way? Information about factory settings could be helpfull to all of us. Good detective work on your part. I can tell you're going to be an asset to the site.

P.S. Now that the frustrating part is over, send us a pic. of your baby.

Still running good?

hi i recently bough beach cruiser with 48cc canada motor from a pawn shop, big mistake. the engine started leaking and needless to say i should have just gotten a new kit and bike and assembled my self. so i bought a 80cc from motovelo and i would not recomend in the future. i installed engine and it runs fine as long as i am rolling and do not have clutch engaged. well if i engage my clutch it kills engine. how would i make it to wear once its on it stays on till engine stalls or kill switch

You said you got your bike kit from Motovelo. Can you tell me what kind of engine you got? Is it 2 stroke or 4? Are you still happy you purchased it? Is it still running ok? I'm thinking of getting one of their engines and I want to know if they are better than the cheap China engines.
Thank you

Thank you

they are all (the 2 strokes anyway) cheap china engines no matter who you buy it from.
Unless you specifically buy one made in japan....but a good japan one will cost you more money than a cheap china one.
